‘Dithering Dave’ outruns tortoise Hammers | Moyes moves in on West Ham target

This summer’s list of ‘targets lost’ – sold elsewhere – is getting as long as the list of ‘rumoured’ links from last summer. West Ham’s  now infamous need to sell before buying means just about every one of the Hammers transfer targets has been snapped up by competing clubs -or has refused outright any interest in heading to east London.

The job in hand is significant. With just two weeks before the first of the summer matches against Manchester United in the USA, West Ham have precisely zero signings to replace their ‘exiteers’. Coufal, Cresswell, Fabianski, Ings, Soler, Antonio, Ferguson, Kurt Zouma and now Mohammed Kudus have all left.

Not one has been replaced.

What makes it worse is that West Ham fans claim they’ve seen it all before and fully expect the club to ‘settle’ for a couple of free signings or an overpriced thirty five year old at the end of the ‘window, having been ‘linked’ with endless top talent which ‘they tried’ to land.

News today that the arch-nemesis ‘dithering’ David Moyes is ‘launching’ a bid for another West Ham ‘target’ feels like salt is being rubbed into the ‘Kudus wound. Everton.news quote journalist Sebastian Vidal who tweets:

“Everton have held talks with James McAtee’s camp as they look to beat West Ham and Borussia Dortmund to the Man City midfielder. The 22-year-old is open to leaving this summer, and Everton made a strong impression with their long-term project. City value him at £30m.”

Moyes’ ‘dithering Dave’ reputation is in danger of evaporating as Everton seek to outrun the ‘tortoise-like’ Hammers who seem to have been interested in McAtee since he was teenager yet don’t seem able to put a serious bid together.

If Everton succeed it will simply give the ever growing, restless and cynical core of West Ham  supporters even more ammunition to criticise the recruitment trio of Potter Macaulay and Sullivan.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Sullivan and Brady are incompetent nobodies . They must go before the bubble bursts once and for all .

    • Taffyhammer says:

peter, they must be doing something right. My personal fortune is but a drop in the ocean in comparison with David’s or Karren’s.

  • weathamsteve says:

Well that just takes the biscuit if dithering Dave can make signings before West Ham,then we have no chance of getting McAtee or anybody else of note. Why does it take Sullvan so long to complete a signing when others can do it in days?

  • Ray says:

When did “the recruitment trio of Potter Macaulay and Sullivan” actually recruit anyone? Sullivan does not have a clue, Potter changes his mind almost as fast as Lopetegui and Macaulay has done nothing in 6 months and certainly is not comparable to Tim Steidten, so far.

  • Ian says:

I don’t see how you can possibly bring Potter or Macaulay into this. They identify targets, but if there hasn’t been money available how can they be signed. And that’s down to the owners.
We are yet again, under Sullivan, a joke of a club. It’s embarrassing.

  • Jeeps says:

    Last shout it was £40m.
About £25m more than whu want to pay.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Will certainly be a loss if we don’t get these young players in McAtee, Elliot, Morton etc sadly I have know faith in the clown in charge that thinks he is a deal maker but is more a deal faker.

  • Mick bering says:

Lack of signings now badly needed Our club is broken really goes to prove it wasn’t dithering Dave at all to blame Our incompetant board that’s where to point the finger Our club needed urgent new players in early to give the manager time to gel the squad but oh no not W ham

  • Steveo says:

Totally agree with Hammer Dan we are going to be in a relegation battle that we probably won’t win. No player with ambition will want to sign for us. Regardless of what anyone thought of Moyes we had our best years under his management. He was a class act covering up for the owners in the transfer market the proof is there right now what a shambles they are. Total disregard for our club

  • Rob says:

So was it all Moyse fault? Seems to me there is only one thing that is the same right through the last few mangers. The board and Sulivan. Which means we as a club still have the same problem 🤔

  • Len Scanned says:

The only dithering Dave is the Sullivan variety. I suspect Moyes got his reputation from protecting Sullivan’s deep pockets but short arms….

  • Martin61 says:

Common denominator between so called ‘dithering: Dave and ‘pottering’ Potter………Sullivan and Brady.
    Unprofessional and out of date

  • Johnty. says:

I’m seriously worried, I can’t see us fielding an effective first team this season. I fear relegation this term.

  • Hazzy says:

Nothing is ever going to change at our club until Sullivan and Brady are gone. . Please, please somebody with ambition take over West Ham United.

  • David says:

Bearing in mind the owners and Karen Brady have always been incompetent from day one and bleeding everything they can out of the club every year perhaps fans have now had enough and realise us paying millions to them and in bonus to Karen Brady for the awful migration to London stadium should never have happened Surely the verbal promise they made to her father can now be ended after 50 years or so and sack her They can enjoy their free seats at every match at our expense whilst we pay for ours Just get people in that have some intelligence to run the club

  • Luke says:

It’s 30m with a buy back though, what’s the point.

  • HammerDan says:

We are now the laughing stock of the Premier League. I really don’t think we can attract top young talent such as McAtee or Elliott. Why would they settle for a relegation fight at West Ham??

I honestly feel the bubble is about to burst. Until Sullivan and Brady are gone, we stand no chance of rebuilding our reputation never mind a young talented energetic squad!!
