West Ham technical director Tim Steidten seems to be on borrowed time after the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui on Wednesday.
Sources close to the club have given the German of no more than 50 percent of still being in post in June. More revelations are emerging about Steidten’s relationship with the former head coach, with Lopetegui’s PR team accusing the German of undermining him while in post.
Although Steidten was originally involved in the interviewing of Graham Potter it was telling that Karren Brady took over the final negotiations in the last 48 hours of the deal with the technical director excluded. Steidten showed Potter around the Rush Green training ground yesterday afternoon introducing him to staff but was not included in many official club photos or videos of the new coach which is also telling.
The board was disappointed with last summer’s transfer dealings which Steidten oversaw, the money spent on Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug has been questioned together with the signings of Jean-Clair Todibo, Carlos Soler and Guido Rodríguez. Account released last week reveal West Ham spent £110m over the summer with a further £11m of potential add-ons on top of that.
Graham Potter ducked a question about working with Tim Steidten yesterday during his press conference, deciding on a provide a politician’s answer stating everyone needs to work together.
“I’m looking forward to working with the staff here at the club, there will be lots of talented people here I’m sure” Potter replied in his first West Ham press conference.
“Part of our approach is to be collaborative, to work together. As I said we need everybody to be pulling in the same direction, we need to be aligned.
“We need to use the resources we have. In the Premier League there’s lots of good players, lots of good coaches. Top, top, top everywhere.
“So unless you’re together, unless you’re moving forward together, it becomes very difficult.
“So that’s the challenge.”
Should Graham Potter remain at West Ham next season we could see Kyle Macaulay or Dan Ashworth reunite with him at the London Stadium
Not surprised Brady took negotiations for Potter (old pals act)
But if Stiendten was any sort of a man he would resign whilst he can still get another job abroad
He has done nothing but cause upset in the camp and got maybe 2/3 decent players the others were over paid for crocks (old pal act)
He needs to go ASAP
sean you transparent meat puppet, show a little more respect for you readers rather just being a living breathing doormat for sullivan and maybe you might find an ounce of self respect.
steidten’s going nowhere and there’s nothign sullivan can do about it beyond vent through his mouthpieces.
Oh you will find the Gold Family pretty much will always stay in cahoots with Sullivan, like a nodding dog. They have profited from the collaboration for far too long (55 years) to abandon it now, You can be rest assured Sullivan has total control over this club. So if he wants Steidten out he will do it … it’s waiting for the moment. The circus over Lopetegui is a Boardroom Turf war with Brady acting as the Sullivan hatchet man. If Kretinsky wants more influence, he is going to have to big up soon. I suspect he will have despaired at the low brow shenanigans and sell out by the end of the year.
Surely Steidten is invaluable in a summer transfer window or does Sullivan really think he can do it all on his own? What is it the cost of Steidtens wages that bothers him? Or is it because Noble is unhappy playing second fiddle to Steidten and wants his job?
So maybe Potter has seen the undermining of Moyes and Lopetegui by Steidten the fact they both ended up banning him from the training ground, and said that he wants him out if he is to stay as manager going forward?
So Sean, are you saying this seeing as you chat with David Sullivan regularly. Or are you saying this with your unbiased, assistant editors head on. Just curious so I can gauge the validity of the rumour, or whether it’s fact straight from David Sullivan. 🤷
I’d hold your breath if you’re waiting for a reply Bubbly 🤔
This is so obviously now a vendetta its embarrassing.
If I could change only one thing about the club it wouldn’t be Steidten it would though be something else that starts with an S.
“Steidten showed Potter around the Rush Green training ground yesterday afternoon introducing him to staff but was not included in many official club photos or videos of the new coach which is also telling.”
Why? Where was Steidten posing alongside Lopetegui on him being hired? When was he sat in with him during interviews? Where was he taking part in training alongside the head coach Lopetegui? Or, y’know, was it EXACTLY the same with Steidten showing Lopetegui around on his “first day” video? (Hint- it was)
And Potter’s answer, while a “politician” answer, also included “”That’s what I’m really looking forward to and I’m really, really excited by it. And my first impressions of EVERYBODY has been really positive.” but that kinda ruins the narrative you’re presenting so best cut that part out, eh?
we do one thing right getting Potter Then cock it up by getting rid of Stiedten Iff it happens nothing will ever change at our club
Again, what is TS official title and what is his job description at West Ham? You cannot gauge his success or failure without knowing the answer to these two questions.
Brilliant news Sean, we are now back to the tried and tested approach of sulli in charge of transfers aided by his trusted agents! That’s worked so well in the past especially when we get to strikers, we can all look forward to more fantastic signings like calleri, tore, hughill and the other 49 crap strikers the club has signed. Sulli was the main driver for lopetegui if we are to believe what we are told, despite the warnings, yet he thinks he has what it takes to be in control of incomings yet again. Can’t he see how poor his recruitment has been? At least if he retakes control we can all hold him to account for his next “little present” and the dreadful purchases we can look forward to
The board have to sack him Sullivan cannot do it on his own and Tim is Kretinskys man so i see him staying long term as Potter is the first manager he will of worked with who is used to a director of football so for me this is a non story.
FFS Sean what did Tim ever do to you .
Well said Craig, total non story!!
