West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has confirmed what Claret & Hugh reported yesterday: Niclas Füllkrug is on the way back.

We received the same update from our top West Ham source yesterday, confirming that the £27m German striker is “nearly ready to return.”

The former Dortmund star has been side-lined with a mystery Achilles injury that has kept him out since September. Füllkrug has been shuttling between the UK and Germany over the past three months, seeking a solution to the issue that has prevented him from making a single Premier League start for West Ham.

However, the Hammers’ head coach delivered the news fans were desperate to hear during his official press conference ahead of Saturday’s West Ham v Arsenal EPL clash.

Speaking to reporters, Lopetegui said: “He feels better; let’s see how he feels in the next two or three matches.”

Despite the encouraging update, C&H has been warned that the club is taking nothing for granted, and expectations remain low at this stage. It’s also worth noting that Füllkrug reportedly feels unsettled in East London and may still seek a January exit.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Considering it is C&H’s top source that gives us this exclusive “homesick” news I’m not we can take it as a given.

Any injured player will be depressed at not being able to play in their respective team. Rodri is no different for example.

Other Hammers websites report similar stories from respective sources at the club. Surely this indicates that certain people at West Ham want this negative view talked about by the fans.

Don’t need multiple choice options to figure out who that could be.

The guy is reportedly on £90,000 a week so sorry there is not a lot of empathy from me.
What’s wrong with East London?Go down to your local pie an mash shop and have double bubble that will cheer him up!

I wonder who C@H’s “top source” is? Do they exist? Are they just a fantasy creation? Either way, I am yet to see any strong evidence to support all this negative speculation.

What is there to feel unsettled about, hes barely set foot on the pitch!?! Appreciate hes probably a bit miserable but still, so are we… come on, give it an f-ing chance deutsche mate!

    • Lokfaen says:

I genuinly believe that is the biggest issue. Moving away from family and friends and not being able to play and forge new relations must be quite tough..

It’s a shame, of course, but let’s hope he comes back soon and give us some positive surprises on the pitch.
