According to The Athletic, West Ham are considering Lens forward Elye Wahi as a potential addition during this summer’s transfer window. This information seems to contradict earlier reports suggesting that West Ham had narrowed their striker search to a single primary target.
Just yesterday, Sky Sports’ Darmesh Sheth reported that West Ham’s top transfer choice was Aston Villa’s forward Jhon Duran. However, The Athletic now indicates that Elye Wahi remains on the shortlist of West Ham’s sporting director, Tim Steidten.
Wahi, who was also on West Ham’s radar last summer but without a deal materialising, contributed 12 goals in all competitions last season. The Ivorian was one of the prime candidates linked with the job of replacing Gianluca Scamacca who had recently returned to Italy.
His performance helped Lens secure seventh place in Ligue 1, qualifying them for the Europa Conference League. As the summer progresses, it appears Wahi is still a significant focus for the Irons club according to the latest report.
Much of this should be taken with a pinch of salt considering West Ham’s director of football is supposedly in Brazil, France and Austria at the same time according to which report you read. Steidten may be good but he ain’t that good.
Duran plus another I think David will go to Chelsea or spurs because they’ve got European football.Abraham is a sick note waiting to happen and is too similar to Duran style of play.Elyi wahi has gone under the radar a bit as he’s not playing for a top club in France and doesn’t get the service from his midfielders. He reminds me of a young Jamie vardy has lots of pace and is very strong and hard to get the ball off.Hes still very young but he could become another Bowen. If we can acquire him at £25-30m would be a good buy.
For £25-30m would rather see Jonathan David or Jhon Duran. Few of the names we are linked with are proven at Premier league level. Tammy Abraham if fit would be my choice.
