I sincerely hope that West Ham are not even remotely considering including Edson Alvarez in any swap deal for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka as reported in the Express today.
It goes without saying that, although the Mexican had a few disciplinary issues last season, his transfer to West Ham was a resounding success. Alvarez was one of the players I believed to be absolutely perfect for new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui’s possession based system.
Eddie’s strategic positioning allows him to slot seamlessly into the defence, which is going to be a huge factor in the upcoming season with Lopetegui’s preference for using attacking fullbacks.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have even paid much attention to such a preposterous swap deal between the Hammers and Man United. That’s no reflection on Wan-Bissaka, who is a decent enough player; however, in terms of value, they are miles apart. While I’m sure the Manchester club would throw some money our way to sweeten the deal, I still believe that West Ham would come out the other side worse off in this transfer.
Then there is the breaking news that the club are interested in French midfielder N’Golo Kanté, who of course plays in a similar role to Alvarez. Perhaps there’s nothing linking the two stories and I’m reading far too much into it; however, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a concern.
West Ham needs to push forward this season and improve; we’re not going to do that by selling our best players.
As ever, C&H will seek to clarify the story with our top club source.
I was thinking more along the lines of getting kante in to encourage todibo to join both being french
No worries, thanks for the feedback. I’ll delete your account, good luck elsewhere.
Mate, read another site.
Gonzo, agree mate. All you are doing is bringing us the latest news. Keep it coming mate.. 👌
Thanks mate, I appreciate that.
We’ve had two exclusives today and asked the club directly about the Alvarez rumours (printed in the Express), the club responded and we posted the response within the hour.
Thanks for reading and joining in.
I do, i just come here for giggles
Watching mctominay during the euros . He’s exactly what we don’t need . We already have soucek I strongly suspect there’s nothing in the Alvarez rumours looks a complete recycle of old news .
Even if there’s any substance to Man U wanting Alvarez, and he wants to go, there’s no way he’s worth less than £70-80m in the current market. And he’s on a long contract.
A closer swap valuation would be Wan-Bissaka + McTominay + cash.
I think some one must be having a bubble with this one , or are we to return to old people’s home united, the legend of Moyes lingers on?
Isn’t it strange how the news regarding kante comes out around the same time as this rumour surfaces, Alvarez will want to play at a club like Man Utd in all probability and it will be tough to keep him if he wants to leave. Wan bissaka plus shed loads of cash may well tempt the club especially as we need to bring in a number of quality players this summer.
I had exactly the same thought myself Dean.
Why would we do that? because we’d make money and Sullivan loves money….all deals in football are possible it just takes cold hard cash to get them done
Why would they do that? Don’t believe this for a second.
Doom mongering again to get the gullible fans going.
There are so many positive posts on here about Lopetegui, Kudus, Steidten, Kilman etc . . . .
The trouble is you never engage with any of them. What about the Kante piece this morning? You’re nowhere to be seen.
You are completely miserable mate, you seek out misery and therefore find it. But when positive stories appear, you don’t even recognise them.
Do yourself and everyone else a favour and take your misery elsewhere, there are plenty of other sites to read (ironically most won’t give you the opportunity to post) because you are not welcome here.
