“Dortmund Not Budging” | Hammers Have Big Decision to Make

Dortmund are playing hardball with West Ham over the sale of German international striker Niclas Füllkrug.

The Bundesliga club and Champions League finalists are refusing to budge on their €30m transfer valuation of the player and have claimed that the ball is now in West Ham’s court.

This leaves the Hammers with a very interesting decision to make because Füllkrug was initially considered the cheaper option and a money-saving short-term alternative to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

However, with Dortmund now demanding a higher fee, as well as increased wages and signing-on fees for the player, the deal is £15m more expensive than the asking price for Colombian Duran.

While the club remains tight-lipped on the situation, a huge outlay for a 31-year-old player who will have little or no resale value might be too costly.

It may be that the player’s proposed trip to England could be delayed or called off altogether if an agreement is not reached.

I expect more back-and-forth on this story and am certainly not ruling out Duran as a viable option yet.

I expect more BS from this site

  • Dutch Courage says:

That price for a 31 year old with just 1 year left on his contract is a surely some kind of joke. He doesn’t fit the profile of player we’re seeking, so walk away please.

    • Barry says:

Agree, too much money for this guy. Believe it was a decoy all along to get Villa to drop their price for Duran. Don’t think it worked!

This lotto add is making reading this site very difficult, please sort it out

  • Liam says:

A checkered career began with very forgettable seasons at Nuremberg but improved in Bremen. At 31 has he reached his peak with Dortmund? I wouldn’t pay 10 million for him let alone 30.

That Lotto ad is making this site unusable

    Walk away.
    No resale value.
The useless goneman Ings is still on £125,000 per week

Hoping that we walk away from this negotiation. If we are willing to pay that kind of fee for a 31 year old then we should be willing to match Villa’s valuation of Duran. At 20 he has massive scope of potential and we could double our money on him in 3 years. It’s a no-brainer.

Clubs playing hardball are our own fault. We should never be needing to bring in so many players at any one time.

  • Billy says:

Dortmund will budge and we’ll meet somewhere in the middle plus add ons. Just a game they play. The Fulk will be a great signing. Craig Dawson vibes on this one.
