West Ham right-back Vladimir Coufal is not a shoe-in to be reunited with former Hammers boss David Moyes, Claret & Hugh has learnt this morning.
The Czech defenderās West Ham contract expires in two monthsā time, leaving him free to join another club on a free transfer. With a new Hammers deal looking unlikely, most had assumed Coufal would join Everton, who need to replace Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman ā who have a combined age of 76.
Coufal’s West Ham and international team-mate Tomas Soucek has a solid offer to join Everton next season, who are battling it out with Leeds United for the midfielderās signature.
However, when C&H spoke to a top transfer insider to ask if Coufal would be joining Soucek in an Everton transfer, we were told: āNot necessarily.ā
Our source continued: āThere is an offer from Everton for Soucek, but it’s not just driven by David Moyes. He will not have full control of transfers next season, and Iāve not heard of any offer for Coufal.ā
Fulham made a transfer deadline day bid for Coufal two months ago, but it was declined as West Ham had no time to line up a replacement. Whether theyāll return again is uncertain, but itās looking increasingly likely that both Czech boys will be leaving the London Stadium in the summer.
Coufal could have been negotiating with overseas clubs from January as he was in the last 6 months of his contract. It would be madness to lose a great squad player like Soucek
