Double success bubble on cards for West Ham

Should West Ham win the Europa Conference two important developments are likely to follow!

Whether or not David Moyes is in charge won’t matter and the time for discussing that is now past.

The board will not sack him after the climax to the season but there remains the possibility that he may call it a day anyway given the various situations that are being put in place regarding directors of football. It’s been discussed ad nauseum so let’s put that to bed for now.

No, the main position will be that victory against Fiorentina on June 7 in Prague will mean we have qualified for the much bigger and prestigious Europa Cup itself next season.

David Moyes commented over the weekend that he and the squad had always fancied themselves in the Conference competition and given the quality of the teams we met early that is understandable.

They weren’t great. But as the saying goes you can only beat what’s in front of you and here we are in a Final which could carry us straight back to the big one. And for me that’s the real bonus!

The second scenario which will help the club is that another season of European football could well convince some of the big European players  to come and join us as we enter the transfer window this summer.

So despite most of the season being a mess, from which the manager has rescued himself, we could find ourselves enjoying a double success bubble as we go into summer.

Only West Ham …as they say!
