Downing: “We have hell of a chance”

SDowningStewart Downing was delighted with the Irons response at Sunderland after going behind to a highly debatable penalty.

He said: “We were pretty upset about it so that was a good reaction from us. our confidence showed by the way we responded. There’s a strength in depth.

“If you don’t play well you are replaced and heads don’t go down when we go a goal behind. I haven’t enjoyed my football as much as this since I was at Aston Villa – counter attacking with pace and power.

He told The Mirror: They finished in the top six and if we keep playing the way we are, so can we. We have a hell of a chance.”
