DS clears up last Boleyn match confusion

Upton Park by airDavid Sullivan has cleared up any lingering confusion over the identity of the Boleyn Ground’s last ever visiting team.

He has told ClaretandHugh: “The league match against Manchester United could now become the last game to ever be held at Upton Park.”

United meet Shrewsbury this evening and should they win either the Hammers or the Reds will be in the semi finals of the FA Cup.

And that in turn would mean the League match between the pair will have to be rescheduled from April 23 with a night match after the game against Swansea being the most likely option.

Not many would argue that a final game against United under the lights would be an entirely fitting way of saying goodbye to the ‘old lady’ that has lived in our hearts for so long.

Ironically, however, there won’t be many Irons fans who won’t become Shrews supporters this evening – and quite right too. 🙂

  1. maybe we could do a deal with Swansea to bring their game forwards, freeing up the 7th/8th for Man Utd!
I’ve been looking forwards to making a day of it for the last game – an evening match would be great as well, but adds difficulties for many of getting to and away from the game itself.

  2. Read that only if MUFC are still involved in Europa this game could go back after the Swansea game, as MUFC still have a couple of midweek slots available right now. 26/27 April or 3/4 May.
