DS making sure Slav not “one season wonder”

|

BilicSlaven Bilic will get his new deal at West Ham just as we told you on Tuesday but it won’t be until next January.

David Sullivan – as we indicated through our own sources in our own story  – wants to ensure “he is not a one season wonder.”

He said: “I will give Slaven a new deal in January. “I just want to see that he is not a one-season wonder. I’m sure he is not, but we will talk next January — or at the end of next season.

Speaking to The Mirror’s Darren Lewis he said: “I have to tell you that he is interested in the project, not money.

“He stayed at Croatia on £2,000 a week for five years when he would have had bundles of offers. He is not really into money. He is more interested in getting the best players for the club than the best money for himself.”

This also confirms our regular reports that Slav was far more interested in becoming West Ham’s new boss than worrying about what cash was on offer.

A source close to the manager has regularly told us that money is not his motivation and said this morning: “His only interest since becoming a manager is to boss the Irons. No other club club truly interests him to anything like the same extent.

Make sure he is not a one season wonder ? Can’t believe he said that !! Is he blind Ffs !
What a brain dead remark, I would find that insulting !. If it is true , ? There’s a bag of worms here for comment , why say that ? ,

  • Radai Lama says:

Hahaha,a bag of worms for that comment.Good stuff Johnboy 🙂
I’m sure that Slaven is quite calm about it all,he is a cool rockstar.

  • Green man says:

God damn. He better hope that remark doesn’t prove to be costly. Should’ve kept his mouth shut, ffs.

  • HamburgHammer says:

So why did Sullivan give Payet a new deal so early on ? Or is it out of the question that Payet may end up as just a one season wonder ?
What about Lanzini on a long term deal ? One season wonder ?
Even if personally he is unsure, he shouldn’t have said a stupid thing like this.

Bilic probably has enough class to fall into the trap of being cross about this.
I still don’t think it was a clever comment to make at this particular time.
Most fans have unlimited trust into Bilic, looks like Sullivan’s trust is far less impressive.

  • bubs says:

Stupid Stupid, keep heaping praise on the 2 Daves then one forgets his tablets and make a stupid remark like this one,
Same as Lanzini and Payet get his name on an improved contract before someone like Chelski come to there senses and realise there future sits just across London and would cost half the price they want to pay for a inferior manager,
Or manure look and think we are in the same position Westham were last year there’s the answer to our problem and cost half as much as Marinio and not upset Ferguson and Charlton,
Even if he upped and moved his legacy is here now to stay as long as we carry on

  • bubs says:

Well we know AC is not a one season wonder his is injured every year but they come out and praise him at every chance,
They even let Hippo go right to the end of his sad reign,
But talk about stabbed in the back,1 minute he is saying Slav not interested in money then he is a lucky one season wonder,
Maybe the academy was a sleeping giant waiting for Hippo to leave,
Every player has improved under Slav not one player has complained about lack of playing time only one sad Frenchman had to leave,
This time last year we were wondering weather we had done the right thing turning Fletcher away now we have Payet Lanzini Antonio
Pinch me did he really say that or was he miss quoted and ment to say we know he is no one season wonder ?

  • Radai Lama says:

Ffs relax boys it is all good.Slaven won’t care.He is probably sat having a wine & cigarette well content with life. Why pick out what you consider the negative.Don’t you think Bilic will be pleased with what Sully about him not being a money orientated man

‘I have to tell you that he is interested in the project, not money.

“He stayed at Croatia on £2,000 a week for five years when he would have had bundles of offers. He is not really into money. He is more interested in getting the best players for the club than the best money for himself.”

You lot worry too much 😀

  • bubs says:

Not worried Rad just seems a bit disrespectful to a man with such dignity who is so respectful to us fans and the club,
Hope when the season ends they have to offer an extra £1 million a year on top to keep him,

    • Radai Lama says:

Yeah it will all be good General.Open up a bottle of Amstel & enjoy the sun in Spain my friend 😉

    • johnboy says:

With you bubs , sully has a mood swing at least once a month , it was Baliol that did it,
He got confused on how to integrate socialism with capitalistic rewards, Wundt would be proud of him ,lol , what a plank ?
      Oi , sully , shut it Ffs, o.o.o.comrade .

  • Billy the Hammer says:

Got it about right imo Rads.Mind if fans don’t have something to moan about on sites they feel short changed.

  • winslow says:

A rather churlish remark to say the least, lets hope it was tongue -in-cheek and they are planning an appropriate contract next January…

  • essexclarets says:

Cant see the problem here. There have been a fair number of managers who have fallen away to side after a good season. Brenda at L’pool, Pardew everywhere he goes, why the rush he isn’t going anywhere

    • Radai Lama says:

I read it originally thought OK fair play & that was the end of it.Then I read everyone with the hump & went back to see what the issue was.Still looking for the problem if I’m honest.Suppose everyone takes things in different ways, cool. If we all agreed it would be boring. What’s Mystic Canchazs view on the matter 🙂

  • COYI247 says:

One season wonders DO happen. Whilst this does feel highly unlikely with Slaven, it is not me doling out the shekels.
What I would say is that just because Bilic may not be doing it for the money, nevertheless, no-one wants to think that they are being treated cheaply. When fellow managers meet, it could be “OK you beat us on the pitch, but I still earn much more than you ha ha etc”.
Bilic would probably never ask, but if it isn’t offered, it cannot help but be erosive of trust and respect between Bilic and the 2 Daves. It would also create an opportunity for journalists to embarrass all concerned – and wouldn’t they just love it! A gift-horse to create rifts…You can feel them already salivating over the prospect!
Wait till Jan if DS absolutely must, but then, I hope he will pay Bilic very hansomely – whether Bilic wants it or not. You can have world beating players, but it is the manager that makes them into a world beating team. All around at the cash rich top clubs, those managers are and have been failing miserably. (Benitez (@Rael), Mourinho, Van Gall, Pellegrini etc).
If due respect is not reflected in Bilic’s earnings, we could lose him; not because he would want to go, but because it practically pushes him out. And, oh boy, would the opposition pounce…Everton-Bilic?? Imagine what he could do with their players! Would Lukaku go if he knew Bilic was coming?
If the 2 Daves felt happy to pay Big Sam VERY hansomely, then not reciprocating with Bilic could ONLY send out a very bad message, and from that moment the wheels could come off the cart, and our Happy Hammers dream all start to unravel: Bilic leaves, average manager, morale and impetus lost, half empty stadium…It would be more a question of how far into the abyss could it unravel…Come on, we’re Hammers, all we have ever known is ‘Just like my dreams, they fade and die’… We CAN avoid it:
Pay Bilic well: absolutely crucial; far, far more important than the pay of any other player. Frankly, I think Bilic is even better than Guardiola…Players ARE replaceable, Bilic isn’t! He just isn’t….no other manager even comes close.
AND with Bilic’s ability to bring the best out of players, DS CAN find a 20 goal a season player without having to pay the Earth for him – and save the money that way. Big name Charlie upsetting the applecart? Who needs it? Find another gem; a diamond in the rough…dare I say it, yet another Jewel (Ha, ha!). And if ALL the midfield and strikers are piling in with a decent swag of goals (along with a few from defenders), we won’t need a 20 goal a game striker anyway….AND very tricky for the opposition!
    So endeth the sermon, ladies!
Happy Easter, everyone – even to the Big Sam haters!
    COYI!

  • Billy the Hammer says:

Enjoy your Easter COYI you Big Sam Lover, lol 🙂

  • slaven a laugh says:

David Sullivan is probably right. from a business point of view due diligence is sensible. However the ‘one hit wonder’ comment in public is disrespectful to Slav. Let’s hope he doesn’t take it personally. Make no mistake Slav is not business minded or money oriented. Slav is a man who is ruled by his heart. Let’s hope he is not wounded by the remarks. Slav will be a manager in high demand by many top clubs.

  • mattefumi27 says:

“I have to tell you that he is interested in the project, not money”… Then I can’t understand why D&D didn’t renew Genius’ contract… he always showed a special interest in the project: development of youth, amazing football and meritocracy. Ok, he was the 15th highest-paid manager in the world, but it’s minor detail… he never cared about the money, first of all: respect for fans and players… LOL 😀
Anyway, I’m sure Slav shall reap what he has sown: glory and money. 😉

  • canchaz says:

Can’t compare the two situations. We have transfer windows for players where every club is looking to steal a good player from someone, so clubs are often forced into making quick contract decisions to stop being raided.
Same situation rarely happens with managers

  • bubs says:

Had a bit of time on your hands Coy I thought it was going to be another recipe for Liddy,
But do agree I think he is a great manager already and any club looking for a manager now would be mad to overlook him
Just be happy to see him signed up for a minimum of 5 years and at least if he is poached we will get big compo

  • jj61 says:

hello from zagreb, croatia…think Sullivan should not so much making statement in the media..especially when they can be interpreted inccorrectly..otherwise,great site, fresh and valid news, and not too many coaching genius like on some other sites..,COY!

    • mattefumi27 says:

Hi jj, welcome to the Rabid Dogs’ crew… ahah. You’re right, here we are just fans, but if you visit Wetpants.com you’ll find a lot of coaching experts… You might not know it, but Slav takes inspiration from them… lol 😀

    • jj61 says:

      thanks M27,
of course i’m joking about coaching g….just saying what i see…between a dozen sites about WH,this seems to me the most objective, and bring relevant issues

  • Radai Lama says:

We’re only joking also JJ.We was just laughing because there are a couple of sites where some of the users think they know more than Bilic & could easily manage West Ham,lol

  • Gobby says:

I used to be on a site like that for about three weeks until I was blocked, lol. But I’m not bitter at all 🙂

  • essexclarets says:

Mmm do i smell the blood of a C&H virgin??? 🙂
anybody got any ideas which site jj61 might be meaning??
I dont really understand why anyone bothers with a contract for X amount of years if they get given a new one after a few months.
If you employ a manager on, say a 3 year contract to do a job & he does that job well for the first 9 months, why would you give him a new one? He is doing what he was employed to do in the first place. If the same manager becomes crap after 18 months does he get given a contract with less money??

  • Radai Lama says:

Think you are right Essex.Gobby got the hook from Wetties I believe.Thrown out on his ear,Lmao.Funny 😀

  • Gobby says:

If you are referring to me then no I’m not a C&H virgin Essexclarets,I have been here for a few days now however Radai is correct I got the hook from WHTID.I was chatting away, went to reply to a guy called Johnsey & suddenly I couldnt, lol.I had no comment rights anymore.I’m not bitter though it seems like WW3 is about erupt everyday on there.I’m more a pacifist than antagonist, lol

    • essexclarets says:

jj61a virgin gobby not you.. 🙂
What did you say wrong or was it said to the wrong person?? Can be a little touchy at times on there. Each to their own.

      • Gobby says:

OK got you, apologises thought you ment me.I didn’t say anything buddy. One minute I was chatting & the next I couldnt.Maybe someone objected to my name Gobsh#te on there.Fair enough I guess,no problem as far as I’m concerned. Was my nephew set up my account for me & gave me the name the cheeky bugger, lol.I shall be having words with him tomorrow, lol
