“Duran Again” | It’s All Getting Rather Embarrassing Now

West Ham’s decision not to pay the full asking price for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is starting to look worse by the day.

The Colombian centre forward scored yet another world-class goal last night as Unai Emery’s team beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League.

Duran has scored four Premier League goals so far this season, but it’s important to remember that he is only a substitute for Aston Villa. This was precisely the case last night when he was introduced into a tight game packed full of world-class players, where he stole the points with his long-range wonder goal.

The 20 year olds goals-per-minute ratio is incredible and has caught the attention of all the top clubs in Europe. It’s fair to say that Duran is currently one of the hottest properties in football, and it looks like a huge error on West Ham’s part that his signing wasn’t concluded.

Villa spent most of the transfer window demanding a £40m fee for a player who was so keen to join West Ham that he made the cross-hammers sign on his Instagram account. Unfortunately, the rest is history; the Hammers failed to meet the Midlands club’s valuation, and he ended up scoring at the London Stadium in the first game of the season.

It would appear that West Ham has allowed a world-class player to slip through their fingers, and that initial £40m is starting to look like something of a bargain.

At what price? Losing one of our best prospects from our academy? Villa wanted Orford in exchange. I’m sorry but I’m glad we told them to poke it. If that was Noble who intervened then well done to him.

Unless Steiden and Co had a lot more evidence then £40m was a huge fee and a really big risk. He still is not a proven consistent player and still expensive at £40m. It’s possible Villa wouldn’t have accepted it anyway.

I honestly don’t now how badly advised big Jhon was in the summer to 1) even consider leaving Villa, with a team in the champions league, an elite coach, fantastic team and 2) to even consider West Ham as a viable option-The reality, Emery, Vidigany and Monchi were never going to seriously consider selling Duran for £30 million quid, his ability, pace, physical prowess with the right guidance under Emery will make Big Jhon a £120 million player, that’s the reality-good luck with Danny Ings and Nikolas Fullkskrug!! thankfully I think he has dispensed with his agent now!!

I think you need to move on.

What’s embarrassing is the constant bleating over how we didn’t get him. He is not a West Ham player, he will probably never be a West Ham player so why are you, and a few other sites, banging on about it?
Yes he’s scoring, that’s his job, but what will you do if he stops? Start posting articles about how lucky we were not to get him?

Just think we should all just move on and support our Dad’s Army frontline that actually DO play for us.

If we did it and let Orford go the other way you would have been up in arms about that aswell. From what I can gather villa kept moving the goalposts and time was short. We weren’t the only ones trying to sign him BTW.
