In what is obviously a fluid situation between West Ham United and Aston Villa over the acquisition of Colombian Jhon Duran, it has now emerged that The Hammers have offered a ‘young player’ in addition to cash to try and get the deal over the line:
Depending on your own viewpoint this can be either seen as ‘exploring every avenue to try and do a deal’ or just simply ‘not being prepared to come up with cash’.
Easy when it is someone else’s millions though, isn’t it.
The report – from Fabrizio Romano on X/Twitter in the last few minutes (11.45) reads:
“Understand West Ham have offered £30 million plus one young player as part of the deal for Jhon Duran. Negotiations ongoing with Aston Villa to reach an agreement.”
This supplements the update this morning from our own Sean Whetstone following his own contact with the source inside the club who advised that a deal wasn’t yet agreed around £35 million, as prematurely reported by Colombian ITK journalist Pipe Sierra this morning.
Hopefully there is now a deal to be done, when negotiations are this close. But knowing West Ham as we all do….
If this is true then how low can our board go, talk about lack of any ambitions. I can see the board selling a major star to fund any rebuild to save cash mainly as they can’t raise any cash from previous poor buys. LOOK & LEARN surely.
Look stop moaning we need a striker we don’t have enough money for much better …Orford is no where near the first team Earthy is better they can’t both play so let’s get the deal done JL will have looked at Orford over last two games and decided he can go
Hopefully not Lewis Orford or George Earhy?! That would be disgraceful if either of them were part of the deal!
I’d rather we walked away from Villa than have to pay a big fee and lose players we want in our claret & blue shirts.
Who is the “young player”?
Villa will surely only want a decent prospect. I do hope we aren’t selling the family jewels just to get this deal done!
Lewis Orford
It’s Lewis Orford, so not your crown jewels but a player with potential.
