€25 million now bid as Hammers get down to business | Report

Image for €25 million now bid as Hammers get down to business | Report

Getting down to business early in the transfer window was always the hope expressed by Hammers’ fans -which normally evaporated as the club were left scratching around for deals close to the end of the window. Yesterday’s Claret and Hugh article detailed the club’s interest in Galatasaray’s fleet-footed striker amid the suggestion that a €30 million bid would be needed.

Further news out of Turkey today goes further and reports that The Hammers have now made a €25 million bid for Baris Alper Yilmaz on the back of his superb season which has yielded 14 goals and six assists in 48 games: A pretty healthy return amid a heavy workload. Sportwitness.co.uk quote Turkish news source sozcu.com.tr and suggest that West Ham’s bid has been refused and another ten million demanded by Galatasaray for their 25 year-old goal scoring frontman.

According to the report, Galatasaray bosses:

“Held an urgent meeting to discuss the transfer and decided that if West Ham were to increase their offer to €35m, they departure will be approved. No sale will be considered below that point.”

Whether West Ham have learned their lesson from the Duran dealings – and quite how accurate the reporting is out of Turkey – we’ll see in the next few days as the transfer window opens for business next week. £7 million quid short. Six million being saved by not having to pay Danny Ings’ annual wages anymore. A do-able deal then.

Certainly signs for cautious optimism going into the close season. Ask me again come August 31st.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

I goal every 3.5 matches is not good for a striker ( Soucek gets that and he’s not a striker ) . Every club outside of the Premier League tries it on with an over valuation and it’s up to Westham to be tough with negotiations in order to stay within PSR .

I don’t expect Sullivan to spend big he never has are will he buys Middle of the road players that’s not good enough for the PL. I don’t want to offence the man am sure he thinks he’s doing good. This is all about money and I know he’s a rich man, but the PL wants stupid rich and he counts the penny’s. Another way to look at it Arsenal spend 100m on one player and we spend 100m on four players where never going to get to the next level

      Euros or pounds?
Has versatility being able to play various positions.
Liverpool have entered the bidding at £25m.

  • Jeeps says:

    Haggling starts with no results.
He could be one of the established players needed.
January stated he would come to whu in summer.
Why not bid an extra £2m and get home onboard?
