Eddie Howe has left reporters in little doubt that his Newcastle United side will be going all guns blazing to defeat West Ham at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Howe has come under increasing pressure following what has been a disappointing season for the Magpies, who are not even guaranteed a top-10 finish.
There have also been numerous rumours surrounding Howe’s future at Newcastle, which hasn’t been helped by speculation that the club’s Saudi ownership could look to sell as they scale back some of their sporting investments.
Newcastle Chaos Has Increased Pressure On Howe
Newcastle endured a hugely disrupted start to the season with Alexander Isak refusing to play in an attempt to force through a move to Liverpool.
And when Howe’s recruitment team tried to sign Hugo Ekitike, they discovered he too was heading to Merseyside.
Summer signings such as Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa have also failed to deliver in the way many had hoped and it has piled huge pressure on Howe.
So anybody expecting the Newcastle manager to take things easy and drift towards mid-table obscurity is very much mistaken.
Make no mistake about it, the Toon boss is fighting for his own survival and knows a strong finish to the season is imperative, even if it comes at West Ham’s expense.
Howe Sends Warning Before West Ham Clash
Speaking ahead of the game, Howe said:
“The game is massive for us, the last home game of the season.
“We have trained hard and trained well. We need to do ourselves justice, we have to build momentum and confidence in what we are doing.
“The players will take these last two games into the summer with them.”
With his own job potentially on the line, I believe every word.
West hams players need to dominate the midfield especially on Sunday and take the initiative! If west ham score first and keep on the front foot it will put a lot of pressure on Newcastle! If west ham score first and nuno reverts to type and takes off offensive players and puts on defensive players as previously west ham will lose and effectively be relegated! West ham have to step take the lead and then keep pressing and get a second goal ! If west ham score don’t take this approach we will definitely lose the game.COYI ⚒️
Compare our game to Spuds they have an easy win against Chelsea who will have put all their best players out on the Saturday to try and win the fa cup and then have to play Tuesday… either after celebrating or being down after defeat…
It’s a must win if we draw all Tottenham need is 1 point from 2 games.
At the risk of sounding pessimistic, we lose to Newcastle, Spurs draw , game over …….
Just win two games thst should be what the players are thinking dont worry about howe that is what we have to do
Howe’s quotes could be just a front.
Whu to win.
You think? Eddie Howe’s job is on the line. Newcastle need another win. Welcome West Ham! The charity club that keeps on giving to teams and players who need a result. 🙄
