Edson Alvarez has look of a future Hammers skipper

Edson Alvarez has the look of a future Hammers skipper to me!

Asked if he would be ready for the Wolves game after taking a knock against Freiburg last night Thursday his answer was immediate and to the point as he snapped: “I’ll be there.”

The same can’t be said of current skipper Kurt Zouma who came off in the game against Fulham and failed to make the line up for tomorrow night’s game although he was on the bench.

Alvarez though is a different kettle of fish to Zouma whose knees are – as a pal on another site said to me this morning – are ” a like time bomb ticking.”

He’s likely to be back for the match against Wolves but to have to keep switching the armband when he’s not available isnt the best plan in the world.

And whether with a year left on his contract at the end of the season when he is unable to play  two games within a week leaves a question mark as to whether he will still be at the club.

Meanwhile, Alvarez  is being talked up by David Moyes and the defensive midfielder said of his own   performance against Freiburg that he had been delighted despite the knock he has taken.
