The mystery surrounding the fitness and availability of Edson Álvarez continues today as a high-ranking West Ham source refuses to provide any information on the player.
Last week, Claret & Hugh were informed by a top Hammers insider that Álvarez would not be fit and available until after the September transfer window. This meant that the Mexican midfielder would be unable to leave the London Stadium during this period, effectively scuppering his rumoured transfer to Manchester United.
However, top transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed just two days ago that Álvarez had indeed been training with the first team, and the Irons could expect bids for the player later this month.
Yesterday, West Ham’s head coach further muddied the waters by leaving the door open for the former Ajax man to re-join the Irons squad. “Álvarez has been out for a long time, and he is progressing well,” Lopetegui said. “But let’s see tomorrow. Like with all of our squad, we will know more then.
“We have had some little problems in our training sessions, but maybe these can be overcome. We’re not too sure at the moment; we’re just going to have to wait and see.”
When Claret & Hugh approached our top club source to seek clarity on the situation, we were informed, “We never make public the fitness of our players to the opposition.”
Clearly, there is a game of bluff and counter-bluff going on, and it’s safe to say that if Álvarez does return, we could be set for a week of intense transfer speculation.
Why are you so keen Gonzo to get information on the likely team selectio? Does getting clicks for the site and being able to claim that you are ITK rank above publishing information that might be useful to the opposition?
What September transfer window?
Usual clickbait rubbish. What do they expect the club to say? Top source is probably the janitor. Another non story.
Who makes this crap up?
Rather than come on here to blindly troll the postings (why bother – what’s the hidden agenda?) I’m going to question the assumptions.
Why would Loppety Guy want to see the club sell a player he wants? And nobody surely wants him to injured just to avoid bids. So just get him back in the side ASAP and reject all bids.
Is that too simplistic ? What am I missing?
Alberez in one player we should not sell , we weaken our own team by selling !
Forget Al. When is Tim Steidten going to get the deals done for Ings, Zouma et al?
COYI
What deals ? Who wants to buy them ?
How about we sell David Sullivan before we sell Edison Alvarez?
Quality not quantity please, too many ridiculous posts on here, if you have something post if not dont !
Psst, Chris, Alvarez will be in the squad. Just saying.
