West Ham left-back Emerson is set to meet representatives from a Spanish club in the near future, as he begins planning for life away from East London.
However, any deal to leave the London Stadium is said to be “a long way from being done,” Claret & Hugh have been told this evening.
Yesterday, football insider Fabrizio Romano announced that the Italian international and West Ham had mutually agreed that a departure would be best for both parties.
There has been interest from Serie A clubs dating back to before Christmas, but Spain is now emerging as a potential destination for the 30-year-old.
We were informed earlier: “Yes, Emerson has been told he can leave, but it’s a long way from being done. Nobody is close to being sold yet. Anyway, his agent has been in Dubai, so there’s nothing imminent happening.”
It’s worth noting, of course, that we’re still in early June—and technically the transfer window does not open until Monday. With that in mind, Emerson is in no rush to make a final decision on his next move and wants to make the right decision.
