West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is a target for AS Roma, according to Sky Italia sources.
The big Greek centre-back is believed to be available for transfer if the right offer arrives, but serious doubts remain over whether Roma can afford a permanent deal.
Earlier this month, the Serie A side approached West Ham about signing Nayef Aguerd but could only offer a loan with an option to buy—something the Hammers swiftly rejected.
Roma have just completed the permanent signing of last season’s loan star Evan Ferguson, who scored four goals on his debut in a recent friendly. However, what’s become clear throughout this window is the Italian club’s inability to table the kind of offers needed to secure permanent signings having bought Neil El Aynaoui from France.
Mavropanos was signed by West Ham for £17 million from Stuttgart, and it’s unlikely the club would accept much less.
It remains to be seen whether Roma can find the funds to get a deal over the line for Dinos, especially if they’re hoping to structure it around another loan. For now, it looks like it’ll take more than admiration to prise him away from the London Stadium.
When Sullivan hired JLo our performances were so poor our players obviously depreciated in value. The results didn’t get any better under Potter either.
Factor in the ages and wages and it explains how we find ourselves in such a mess with respect to no offers forthcoming.
Roma might not be able to afford Mavrapanos, but the question I think is more appropriate….. can we afford to keep him?
Sullivan appears to be hiding behind PSR, blames our demise on Moyes and Steidten, and is now destroying our rebuild with players we should be swerving at all cost.
Sullivan & Brady destroyed Birmingham and history is now repeating itself in East London.
My biggest worry is that Sullivan has no desire at all in selling West Ham. I truly fear that Jack Sullivan in the future will take control and the club will continue its spiral downward.
Unfortunately Mav seems to have a mistake in him pretty much every game, most of them leading to goals. If Aguerd stays then Mav can go.
I suppose it is indicative of life today, ( can’t wait to know ) but it’s beyond me why headlines are made up of things that haven’t happened, or even unlikely to happen, just me I suppose.
Roma haven’t ‘completed the permanent signing of last season’s loan star’ at all. Not unless you have a time machine hidden away.
He’s just started a year’s loan with Roma🙄
