Football, a realm consumed by the present, often overlooks the possibilities lying beyond the obvious. In the quest for West Ham’s next manager, a wild array of candidates has emerged, each offering distinct philosophies, styles, and characters. Yet, amidst the frenzy, there’s one name conspicuously absent from public discourse – Eusebio Di Francesco.

Intrigued by this anomaly, Claret and Hugh dove into the background and credentials of this enigmatic manager, discovering a hidden gem with exceptional potential for the probable West Ham vacancy.

Di Francesco’s playing career stands as a testament to his extraordinary abilities. Dominating the central midfield, he left an indelible mark not only in Italy’s Serie A but also in the illustrious Italian National Team. Transitioning into management, he helmed Roma, where his triumphs didn’t go unnoticed. Roma, under his stewardship, secured Champions League qualification and reached the semi-finals, vanquishing formidable opponents like Chelsea and Barcelona along the way.

Beyond these achievements, Di Francesco showcased his prowess in grooming young talents and elevating underdog teams to new heights. At Sassuolo, he orchestrated their promotion to Serie A, gradually transforming them into competent competitors who played an attractive, eye-catching brand of football. His foundational work laid the groundwork for Di Zerbi, now at Brighton, to rise to prominence.

For unjust reasons unrelated to football, Di Francesco was shunned and abandoned for a period. However, seizing the opportunity to return to managing, he courageously took charge of Frosinone, a club with incredibly limited resources, currently competing in Serie A. Against all odds, Di Francesco has instilled an offensive, disciplined, and aesthetically pleasing style of play in his team, leveraging young academy players who lack household recognition, both in Italy and abroad.

The magnitude of his accomplishment did not escape the footballing community’s attention. Now, big clubs at home and abroad are vying to secure his services. However, it is the allure of English football, particularly the Premier League, that captivates Di Francesco. As a former player, he possesses an intricate knowledge of West Ham’s illustrious history, graced by legends like Paolo Di Canio. Di Francesco firmly believes that given the chance to replace David Moyes, he can unleash his full potential, eager to prove himself once again.

Driven by an unwavering determination to make a statement, Di Francesco’s presence could portend a bright future for West Ham. With his wealth of experience, tactical acumen, and unyielding passion, he stands as a beacon of untapped potential, poised to ignite a revolution in East London if called upon.

All I want is for steidten to be left to find and appoint the new head coach without interference from above .

Its his responsibility, if it doesn’t work out , its on him.

I agree with you we need a young progressive manager can’t Sullivan see this and what about the other members of the board?

  • Mibatch says:

Never heard of him but your article sounds very promising. VERY surprised if WH made an approach for an unknown though. Much more likely to look for an older established manager with all his prowess and energy behind him. Dont forget you are talking about a management that doesnt worry about keeping their fans updated and are willing to wait until the last game before deciding whether to get someone whos available at that time. A fan of WH for far to many decades. COYH

The situation is very embarrassing for West Ham – Sullivan has given us Avram Grant, BFS, Pellegrini and Moyes and gave Birmingham Steve Bruce

So it is difficult to be optimistic that we will see a progressive appointment
