Everton 1-1 West Ham
Areola:6 Punched a corner clear but the ball was in the back if the net on the next phase. The Toffee’s seemed happy to let him kick the ball. Did well to make a save from Garner following a corner. Made a big save on 89 mins.
Walker Peters:6 Had to share Grealish marking duties with Bowen. Predictably picked up a yellow card by fouling Grealish.
Mavropanos:5 Shocking defending after 17 minutes allowed Keane a free header to make it 1-0. Nuno Espirito Santo will not have been impressed. Made me nervous all game but the whole team seem to have football PTSD when the balls come in from wide areas. Made another big error in the second half and picked up a yellow.
Kilman:7 Straight into action with an early tackle to stop Beto. Excellent one on one defending against the same player early in the second half then followed it up with a brilliant block on Garner.
Diouf:7 Busy start to the game with a series of no nonsense hoofed clearances. Awful passing. Had a poor first 50 mins but produced a wonderful cross early in the second half then grew in confidence. His run that led to Bowen’s goal was sensational. Finished the game as the best player on the pitch.
Magassa:5 Seems unaccustomed to the pace of Premier League football. Not all bad and he has talent but too many errors. Grew into the game towards the end for the first half.
Fernandes:6 Busy in the first half without making an impact but has impressive energy levels.
Paqueta:6 Looked to play the ball early from deep. His radar was well out of sync with every important pass seemingly hitting the oppositions legs. Like most of his teammates, much better in the second half.
Bowen:6 Should have done better with an early cross. Everything he tried seemed to fail despite him seeing a lot of the ball. Then scored the most Jarrod Bowen type goal you’re ever likely to see as he cut in from the right and unleashed a left footed shot. Very close to setting up Fullkrug near the end.
Summerville:7 One mazy run early in the first half almost opened up the Everton defence. West Ham’s brightest player in the first half by a distance. Almost picked the pocket of O’Brien following a long kick from Areola. Very good and sorry to see him subbed.
Fullkrug:5 More involved in the build-up than in recent games and seemed to cause more problems for defenders than usual. Should have done better with a left foot shot from a Summerville cross on 15 mins.
Substitutes
Potts:6 On for Magassa in the 58th min and was very tidy on the ball.
Guilherme: 76th min sub for the excellent Summerville. Got in Fullkrug’s way and possibly denied the German striker the winner.
Irving: Part of a double time wasting substitution in injury time for Fullkrug.
Igor: On for Paqueta to make his debut.

Bit stingy with most the ratings/reviews, IMHO.
KWP did really well to contain Grealish for much of the game, and contributed to the attacking play.
Overall, a better performance than in recent games, but still with some work to do.
Bit unfair on Mavropanos – it was Diouf who went to sleep and lost Keane while drifting back across the back line . I am never the first to praise him but the big fella was alright tonight. A solid 6 not a 5
Good point but defending is a big worry Mavrapanos needs replacing and Fullkrug needs replacing with Marshall or Wilson.Potts looked solid when he came on.Paqueta is not doing well and perhaps could do with being dropped to kick him into life.
Next game is a big worry, needs to work on the defence and some how get it tight.Going forested looked great but lack the killer instinct in front of goal, perhaps it is time to give Marshall a chance in next game
Like Nuno and players looked more hip for it
