Everton given unfair advantage over Hammers

|

West Ham will have played three games in five days when they face Everton in the Premier  League on New Year’s Day.

The Hammers have two games in three days after playing Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday followed by Southampton on Tuesday evening.

Everton last played on Boxing Day against Sheffield United but will have a full seven days rest before they face West Ham on 1st January.

They were due to play Manchester City tonight which has been postponed at short notice due to an outbreak of Covid in  City squad.

West Ham will have just two days rest after tomorrow’s clash on the South coast.

Everton are flying high in second place in the Premier League on 29 points just three points behind Liverpool.

It is yet another example of the unfairness caused by the pandemic and in such a tight Premier League table where small margins can make a massive difference.

Let’s be honest we never beat Everton anyway.. Need a miracle.

    We should sue someone!
Or, hope that the capriciousness of VAR saves us for a change.

We can’t complain – we had a six day gap for the Brighton game, and a lot of good that did us.

Perfectly valid excuse isn’t it. And I fully expect us to lose to Everton as a result.

Doesn’t always work that way, Sean. Just because one team has the chance to find things to do to fill their time whilst waiting for the next game doesn’t mean they will be rested and raring to go. It would not be ‘fair’ if all teams (all personnel) had the same amount of recovery time between contests. This is life – let’s not find excuses beforehand. Let’s get on with it.
