Everton hit by two key injuries for Irons clash

Leighton-Baines-700x367Under pressure Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth has confirmed that Leighton Baines and Michael Keane are likely to miss the clash with the Irons.

Both were injured during Sunday’s defeat at Southampton and neither looks likely to recover in time for a game from which both sides see three points as crucial.

However, Unsworth added that Mason Holgate has returned to training after overcoming a groin problem and will be reassessed  on Tuesday evening.

Unsworth said: “Leighton looks like he’s going to be out  but both are probably doubtful for Wednesday night,” said Unsworth at his pre-match press conference.

“Mason trained yesterday, which is great. We’ve got a session tonight – we wanted to give the players as much rest as we could and give injuries every chance to recover, so we put training back. ”

This could be Unsworth’s last game in charge with former Irons boss Sam Allardyce now strongly linked with the job.

  1. Good. Keane is a good defender and Baines always scores either a free-kick or a pen against us! That God Lukako ain’t there still too!

  2. They’ll try kicking us off the park !! Let’s hope we can match their aggressiveness !
    Defo need 3 points !
