West Ham United are reconsidering another move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports. However, it’s important to remember that these stories should be taken with a pinch of salt. West Ham have already stated directly to Claret & Hugh that DCL is ‘too expensive and too injury prone’.
The Hammers are in the market for a new striker to bolster our attacking options, and Calvert-Lewin has re-emerged -yet again- as a potential target. The 26-year-old has struggled massively with injuries in recent seasons, but has shown ability when able to remain fit.
Everton are open to selling Calvert-Lewin, with the striker entering the final year of his contract. The Toffees are reportedly looking for a fee of around £40 million for the England international, but West Ham would pay nothing close to that.
The Hammers are aware of Calvert-Lewin’s injury record and would need to conduct a thorough medical before completing any deal. However, the club believe that the striker could be a valuable addition for a nominal price.
West Ham face little competition from other clubs for Calvert-Lewin, but the Hammers would be confident of securing his signature if they can agree a reasonable fee with Everton. What with the Toffees PSR difficulties this looks quite promising. However – can’t say he is at the top of the ‘durability’ list!
Dharmesh is saying Niclas Fullkrug of Dortmund. Says there’s talks and the player is open to it, he’s 31 though so doesn’t fit the profile.
Probably better sticking with Ings!
“Looks quite promising” – not to me, it doesn’t. Absolutely NO WAY; along with Calum Wilson.
“Dodgy Cruciate-Ligament” this guy’s a sicknote. How have we got cash for this and can’t get David? I still can’t believe we spent a third of our budget for 8 players on a speculation for the future, especially when Diego Gomez and En-Nesyri together would have cost the same or Jota Silva and Jake O’Brien. We should be bringing in Wahi why should we help Villa, Everton, Leeds and Newcastle balance their PSR?
Southampton have announced the signing of Villarreal striker Ben Brereton Dias for £7m. He may not be quick. But he is a left winger. A real goalscoring machine. And he is 25. I am surprised we have not even shown interest in him. I think that is a big omission.
Agreed, thought he would be a brilliant squad player
I think Calvert-Lewin is a bloody great striker; he scores whenever he plays; problem is, lately, how often has he played? Don’t forget he is in a team managed by someone who’s record for producing teams that score is parsimonious at best. I always remember having him in my fantasy team every year because he scored so much and assisted too. Maybe a warmer temperature down south might be kinder to those injury-prone muscles/tendons!!
Any idea how many goals he got in each of the last 3 seasons… I don’t know myself, but I’m pretty sure that will show you what we would get…….not.alot I would guess .. and a proven striker is what we have needed forc3 years …but the clowns that be can’t seem to find one in 3 years 🤣
Not a lot Kip but when he has had 2 season’s pretty much injury free he scored 13 and 16 and don’t forget, Everton have been pretty dire for a great number of years (since Moyes really). He has goals in him but he also has dodgy knees apparently and at £40m i guess he’s not worth it. For £20m though…?
At the start of the article you say stories like these should be taken with a pinch of salt and that your highly placed source at West Ham has told CH that he’s too expensive and too injury prone. I know it’s a slow news day on the West Ham front and you have space to fill but surely you can better than rehash a story
Think that’s the worst post yet ! if we buy that …I’m done …he’s ABSOLUTELY SHI##……but continuing with quantity rather than truth …..wan bisakka was close 3 days ago ..YET HERE WE STILL ARE ..still no signature…CLOWNS
He’s really note sh*te.
He leads the front line really well, and despite his pretty boy looks he dominates defenders
.
His limitations are that he’s not a natural finisher and has had on-going injury problems, but whe fit and firing he’s ace.
Everyone on here saying how rubbish he is but the geezer always scores against us…
If you could keep him fit he is decant
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO or is this more rehashed b*. Again.
