Ex links Hammers with £49.5m-rated PL midfielder

Ex WHU Employee claims that the Hammers could make a swoop to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester this summer.

The Hammers are said to be keeping an eye on the midfielder’s situation, as he has previously been linked with Arsenal.

That deal appeared contingent on the Gunners qualifying for the Champions League, though, and has left the situation up in the air.

As a result, there is now a possibility that the Hammers could make a bid for the Belgium international.

Tielemans has been with Leicester since 2019 but is still just 25, and has a contract until 2023. He is valued at £49.5m by Transfermarkt.

He has made a total of 157 appearances for Leicester, scoring 24 goals and registering 24 assists; he also scored the winner in the FA Cup final when the Foxes beat Chelsea.

We know boss David Moyes is keen to sign a new central midfielder this summer and has been keeping an eye on James Ward-Prowse at Southampton; there is very likely something to this.

  1. This is the kind of signing we need, would love him to come but not so sure he will. He’s slightly more realistic than Ward Prowse too. If we managed him, Danjuma and Broja that would be an amazing window.

  2. Would love too but can’t see it happening, Tielemans has higher ambitions than us.

Would also rather have him than Ward-Prowse and seemingly £25m cheaper

  3. Can’t see why Tielemans would want to join the Hammers, unfortunately. We are not really a big step up from his current club Leicester. And around £50 million is not cheap. Having said that, I would not say we shouldn’t try!
