Southampton are reportedly keen on reuniting with former striker Danny Ings after securing their return to the Premier League, according to talkSPORT.
Following their promotion via a play-off final win over Leeds United, Southampton are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming Premier League season.
Ings, who played for Southampton from 2018 to 2021, has endured a difficult season at West Ham. The 31-year-old has only managed one goal in limited playing time (390 minutes) since his £15 million move in January 2023.
With a desire for more regular playing time, a return to Southampton could be on the cards for Ings, who was once labelled a “phenomenal finisher” by pundit Noel Whelan. He enjoyed a productive spell at St. Mary’s previously, scoring 46 goals in 100 appearances across all competitions.
A potential return for Ings could be joined by another former Saint, Adam Lallana. The midfielder is also reportedly in talks with Southampton as he prepares to leave Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
Poor old Ings never really clicked at West Ham and it would be a wise move by both parties if he left.
Take the money and run, Mr Sullivan!
