West Ham United prospects Kaelan Casey and George Earthy both featured in England’s Under-20 squad, helping secure a 2-1 comeback victory against Italy. The team is managed by former West Ham coaches Paul Nevin and Kevin Nolan, who are familiar with Casey and Earthy’s qualities. Nolan in particular coached Earthy on numerous occasions before he made his first team debut last season.
Earthy nearly found the back of the net before being substituted by Norwich City’s Kade Gordon later in the match.
Meanwhile, there was more positive news on the international stage for West Ham academy graduates. Lewis Orford made his debut for England’s U19s, captaining the team in the final 15 minutes of their 2-1 loss to Portugal. The 18-year-old midfielder, fresh off signing a five-year deal with West Ham, came on in the 65th minute, replacing Chelsea’s Kiano Dyer. Orford took over the captain’s armband from Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri after the forward was substituted.
These performances highlight the continued development of West Ham’s FA Youth Cup-winning talent.
Earthy will be back in action on Monday when England hosts Czechia before returning to Bristol City on loan for the remainder of the season.
Thankfully the Duran deal didn’t come off?!??
mate, what did you expect from Orford’s mum 😆
“what did you expect from Orford’s mum”
Constant nagging, mood swings and the occasional BJ…..
Great to see Orford captaining England. To think we could have lost him to Aston Villa as part of the Duran deal which thankfully didn’t come off.
