Exclusive: “Ashby Won’t Sign New Deal”

Exclusive By Gonzo

A West Ham insider has exclusively revealed to Claret & Hugh this afternoon, that Harrison Ashby is soon to depart The London Stadium. A top source at the club commented, “Harrison won’t sign a new deal, and he’ll leave in the summer on a Bosman”.

The Athletic and Sky Sports Darmesh Sheth are also reporting that a deal between The Hammers and Newcastle has been agreed. A fee in the region of £3 million is believed to be supplemented by various add-ons and bonuses.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has been chasing the highly rated wing-back for the last 12 months, and it is understood they share the same agent.

The Scotland under 21 international is set to undergo a medical on Monday morning, with his contract yet to be finalised.

The Magpies have been looking for a full-back to provide competition to Kieran Trippier, who signed an extended contract last week.

The departure is the latest in a long line of players who have departed the West Ham academy during the last 12 months.

It is understood that Ashby has been frustrated by the lack of playing opportunity and pathway to the first team and West Ham.

  1. If you was a young player why would you stay at West ham when the manager won’t give the young prospects a run in the team.

  2. The manager has a lot to ask for here again. The player asked for a good contract, the club determined he had not warranted a first team salary and the player could not show it because the manager would not play him. 100% down to Moyes and his approach to playing youngsters. He will not take any risks, dated manager on his way out of the club, only a matter of time.

  3. As we all realise Moyes is on the Green Mile and it’s only a matter of time, we not only pray for saving from relegation, but the damage to the Academy, it’s reputation and supply line is clearly going to be the real cost to his hard headed folly.

  4. Hmm! Scottish player, Newcastle nearer and same agent as Howe. My view we could have offered him the earth and he would still go. More about attitude for me than not getting chance.
PS. Hate these bloody pop ups that get in the way of writing text!!
