West Ham’s next game against Everton is a must win game a senior source has told Claret and Hugh this morning.
While the West Ham board are backing the experienced head coach to turn things around, they need results to improve and see Everton as the first step.
The Hammers 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest has seen a melt down by some sections of the fan base but historically the board is not quick to sack managers instead giving them every chance to improve.
West Ham sits in 14th place in the Premier League table with 11 points but that start to the season doesn’t make it into the Hammers top ten worst starts.
Everton are 16th placed with 9 points, so this game is seen as a real six pointer. Therefore, with Sean Dyche also in trouble for the Toffee’s, next weekends game could well be another El Sackio situation.
Pressure is on mounting on Julen Lopetegui and he will be expected to secure all three points at the London Stadium next weekend.
Why are we signing Spanish speaking players in their 30´s, who have played in overseas leagues where the pace of football is much slower compared to the EPL? Also, if these results continue we can expect an exodus of our key talent. in coming transfer windows. Then who will want to come and play for us?
The reason for saying Everton is a “Must win game” is simply that Everton are a poor side at the moment and the game is one West Ham think they should win easily, which would relieve the pressure and avoid anyone having to make a decision. The reality is that West Ham could just as easily lose, which could then be seen as a sackable offence.
It is hard to believe that there are so many on here that still think Lopetegui can turn things around, when he has shown from day 1 that he is not a competent coach.
Correcto!
It’s not all about one guy. Julen came with his chosen back room staff. They are not up to the job, either. We have no leaders on the pitch. We were doing very nicely with Stuart Pearce, Kevin Nolan, Teddy Sheringham, Paul Nevin, Alan Irvine, Xavi Valero, Billy McKinlay and the like. These were people who knew their craft having built up knowledge of the game by playing and having an interest. Filling these support positions with career coaches unable to communicate or listen to get the best out of the talents available, is a recipe for imminent failure. Much better to use an old Principal Striker to pass on tips and experience to current PS wannabes rather than midfield coaches struggling to justify their qualifications. Same for quality defenders and goalkeepers. Midfielders just need a bit of positional advice together with motivation when it comes to being coached.
If Julen is unable to make it work at West Ham, we need to install a manager with backroom staff who know what they are doing straightaway. A management team with Premier League experience will do the job. The players we have in the squad at the moment will appreciate sound advice, help, understanding, guidance and motivation.

He’s neither getting the best from the players or fixing it that we don’t concede too many goals. It’s November now and one way or another that cannot continue after Xmas.
If we win against Everton then that must reflect a continuing improvement, otherwise it’s better we lose against Everton and he’s sacked…
Apparently Sullivan picked the guy so he won’t want to lose face.
I can see it going back to the old “three strikes and your out” farce.
I don’t get this one more game. Bull **** . If he’s not good enough, get rid now . No one has faith in this bloke . Sullivan admit you ****ed up and move on
Just nip it in the bud now
Probably reappoint Moyes for a third time if we sack Lopetegui 😆
If it means loopy lope goes then I for one are happy to lose the next game or two. This guy is clueless “total football” my arse! ⚒⚒⚒
100% …me too …but even even if we lose i bet they won’t….they will then give another alternatum and will keep doing this till it gets really bad and is to late ….its obvious he has no clue already
