Claret & Hugh have learned the price it would take to prise West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus away from the London Stadium. We have spoken directly to the club within the past hour following speculation that offers have been made for the wideman.

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle are set to bid for the Ghanaian winger, as reported by C&H last week. However, it has now been suggested that the Hammers could be willing to accept a £90m transfer offer, should such a bid come in.

Some inaccurate reports had suggested the former Ajax man could be available in January for a reduced fee. We are happy to set the record straight with information that comes directly from the very top of the London Stadium.

When Claret & Hugh spoke to a top insider at West Ham about Kudus leaving, we were told: “We’ve had no bids but would want at least £100m.”

In effect, this confirms that Kudus is for sale. If any club wants to sign him before next summer, they will need to cough up almost as much as Arsenal paid for former Irons captain Declan Rice.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

No clubs spend big in January anymore. Top clubs like to make marquee signings in the summer so they get a pre-season to integrate players.

Arsenal have Saka on the RW and need a striker so Kudus going there is highly unlikely.

I’d say Rashford might appeal to them as an upgrade on Trossard / Martinelli. Then again Arteta ruled out Toney and shipped out players with suspect attitudes.

Kudus will stay until the summer. Hopefully our coach won’t. Think we might be stuck with him until the end of this season.

Brilliant. Let’s put our best player in the shop window and show the world how ambitious we are. We’re a joke of a club

i personally don’t mind if we ditch Kudus. I’ll start by saying i am no fan of Loptegui. granted Mo is not being played in his favoured position but i feel he’s a bit too full of himself. this weekend he did play more like a team player but if something isn’t going his way he seems to stamp his foot and play for himself. i think he’s still a tad immature and prone to tantrums. if he stays he needs guidance in this area. don’t know if Loppy is the guy to do that either. the money would go a long way to filling that hole, maybe even with 2 quality signings. Paqueta knows he has to stay because no one will take him with the giant cloud hovering above him and has realised he has to thank the fans and club for standing by him. they don’t have a choice either bc we need him to perform on the pitch. last week when he came on he walked. this week he scored and runs a mile to the coach

Gonzo if this comment is true how many clubs could realistically afford £100 million plus without breaching psr regulations? Also why would any club risk this huge amount on one player when the risk of injury could jeopardise their entire campaign as they almost certainly not be able to buy other players to stay within their budgets?

This sort of approach does nothing to help stabilise the club and certainly doesn’t help relationships between club and fans. We all know Kudus is a fantastic talent and is clearly frustrated by a manager who does not know how to play him in his best position. He is also understandably ambitious and wants to play at the highest level. But surely with the right manager and seeing real investment in better players could help players achieve their ambitions here instead of selling our best players. Cole Palmer, Jhon Duran and Ruben Amorim were huge missed opportunities, and instead we continue with the oldest squad in the league and a manager who is not capable of helping us progress as a club and competing in Europe every season. Imagine what could be possible if we showed real ambition to keep Kudus and appoint a top young manager working as one with Tim and the board. C&H and Hammers News have previously reported we are well positioned with record turnover expected for 2023/24 and £237 million for 2022/23 so why not be ambitious for a change?

The elephant in the room is Sullivan . He blocked DoF Steidten from getting various good players insisting that instead get cheap players and of course cheap old manager . Right now Kretinsky could take up his option and buy out Sullivan for cheap 250 million ( pocket change for Kretinsky ) . Kretinsky employs experts and leaves them to it , which is what Westham need . Guaranteed success .

  • John Ayris says:

Every player has their price I guess. Our problem is more that Steidten wanted Gyokeres, Duran, Amorim and Hoeness but none of it happened due to wonderful decisions not to.

Again we see Sullivan cashing in on one of our best players . How can we as a club move forward to the so called next level when we are prepared to sell a player that would be instrumental in achieving that . I can understand that kudus would want to leave while JLo is in charge he has made it clear that he doesn’t like certain players personally . While JLo remains in charge there will be other players that will be pushing to leave as well . Ok we drew with Bournemouth and played quite well but we have seen this before we put in a good display then we go to pot in the next few games . This situation needs to be addressed asap while JLo continues in this game of must win game to stay as manager we are going to miss out on a top manager yet again the board needs to be more decisive and do what needs to be done regardless of how hard that makes them look . If we were Man Utd Man City arsenal Liverpool spurs Aston Villa there would be no delay they would sack their manager if they were in the position that we at West Ham are . So the owners need to get their act together and get JLo out while we can still save our season

  • D says:

We are roughly a mid table team and going to get this problem constantly.. It would be far better to start initiating players from the youth team and following Brightons example of sourcing good young players from across the globe. Moyes left the squad too threadbare and made that very difficult to do in one or two windows. Get the money and use it wisely not on injury prone strikers.

  • Kip says:

I think this says it all about our lack of ambition…just keep selling out best players …perfect plan …👌

  • Terry says:

If true what a total lack of ambition, typical of sully selling the assets and buying a load of old duff
