West Ham striker Niclas Füllkrug could be set to miss this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
Claret & Hugh spoke with a top club source this morning, providing an update on the striker, who has not featured for the club since picking up an injury in September. The £27m signing from Borussia Dortmund was injured during a training session while on international duty for Germany.
When C&H asked a top-ranking Hammers source whether the forward would be available for Spurs, we were told: “At best, he might play a few minutes off the bench. He’s lost fitness due to the injury.”
Reading between the lines, it appears that reports suggesting Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui plans to take a cautious approach with Füllkrug’s fitness are accurate. While he may not feature against Tottenham, it seems West Ham are now dealing with a fitness issue rather than an injury.
Let’s hope Michail Antonio is not too fatigued from his journey to Jamaica.
Todibo was given time to get fit. So should Füllkrug. We won’t see the best of him until then.
By the end of the season we’ll all be singing his name.
My name is Niclas Fullkrug
I come from the Danube
I play up front for West Ham, WEST HAM!
When I walk down the street, everyone that I meet says “Oi, big boy, where’s your tooth?”
The gates into the London Stadium might as well be into Jurassic Park because Westham have a bunch of old, broken dinosaurs in the squad as well as the board .
Having fed us all the excuses as to why none of the team, particularly the new hires, had turned up for the new season unfit to do what they had been employed for, Fullkrug then played as a sub in 3 games totalling less than 90 minutes, before picking up an injury that has kept him out of the team for over six weeks, and now you provide us with the revelation that he may not be match fit. Of course he is not match fit, he hasn’t played a full game since signing back in August.
Consider the possibility that, if and when he plays, should he pick up another tap on the ankle, that will likely see him through the first half of the season without any of us knowing what he is capable of. That is of course according to my top ranking hammers source.
Yet another dreadful purchase, what is it about this club and strikers who aren’t up to the job gonzo? But we should have known buying a wardrobe to play up top was never ever going to work in the prem, I honestly believe we will go for another over the top aging striker to paper over this mess in January and so the saga goes on indefinitely
Surely Injuries and ‘ general fitness ‘ are quite separate issues. and under his condition there is nothing to prevent him following a strict fitness regime prepared for him . if you are talking about match fitness , he can only achieve that by being introduced into matches slowly over 3 to 4 . I have a feeling that he has not recovered and someone is trying to pull the wool over your eyes?
Hopefully Antonio doesn’t start . Been beyond dreadful every time he’s played straight after international football. Kudus through the middle. summerville on the left .
Exclusive – Man that has been out injured isn’t as fit as he was prior to his inury
What’s next?
Breaking news – tomorrow is Thursday.
So now he’s not even a Halfkrug. At best maybe a Quarterkrug. It’ll be a long time before he’s back to being a Fullkrug!
Bringing fullkrgus was a huge mistake his injury record alone should have been enough to give him a wide berth on top of that he is really to slow to make a big difference I just don’t understand why we would bring in him when there was younger strikers with all the assets needed to lead the line so now we will end up paying the price for it funny because when moyes left and we had to improve our squad we believed that we would sign a striker with pace skill and knows where the back of the net is instead in football terms we get a pensioner striker it’s a absolute disgrace
… and there you have it – history’s longest sentence ever
