Exclusive: Gold on Reid reports: “It’s news to me”

WinstonWest Ham co-chairman David Gold has described reports that Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested in Winston Reid as “news to me.”

The central defender has a year left on his current contract and a three or two way auction could see his price rocket but the Hammers chief made it clear there was no truth in the reports “thus far.”

He may of course become one of the most sought after players of the summer but for now there’s absolutely nothing doing.

The New Zealand skipper was believed to be a £6 million Gunners target in the winter but the club would want double that and a lot more if two or three clubs came in.

Gold told Claretandhugh exclusively: “We’ve read the stories like everybody else and I guess there may be interest but we have received no inquiries at all.

“We are ready to talk to Winston in the summer and we’ll do all we can to satisfy his requirements.”
