Club sources have confirmed Kyle Walker-Peters will sign a three-year contract with West Ham after deciding to pull out of a deal to join Turkish club Beşiktaş J.K in the eleventh hour.
The club insider made it is clear that it clear that the 28-year-old former Southampton player wanted to stay in the UK and Premier League.
The club source said: “The player wanted to come to West Ham, so it is a good deal for West Ham and the player”
While Walker-Peters is a free agent, there is a significant agent fee and signing-on fee plus significant Premier League level wages to be paid as there is no such thing as a free transfer.

Walker Peters- the latest recruit
Walker-Peters has been represented by CAA Base since he was 17. The football agency is head quartered in London, other clients include Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and James Maddison
Walker-Peters is comfortable playing either right back or left back but can also play centre back when required. He is also comfortable playing in defensive midfield roles making him a valuable squad player.
Great signing, whoever is behind it. Solid player
Spot on, Saul. That’s the bottom line.
Solid signing that. AWB and KWP for the right with Diouf and Scarles on the left. Do not under estimate how critical the wing backs are when trying to play a 3-4-3 or something of that ilk.
Seems an odd move we now have 3 left backs, I know KWP can play RB but that’s not where he normally plays. Arnau Martinez looks quality and is a rb that is young with a high resale possibility.
Potter opted for Diouf as he is young & dynamic over signing KWP and then all of a sudden the deal to go to Turkey is hijacked last minute.
This has got Sullivan’s fingerprints all over it. We will get the usual he was Potter’s choice. The same way Potter is desperate to add Josh Brownhill and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to his youthful overhaul of the squad.
Chelsea tickets being available for general sale says it all. Fans are fed up with Sullivan’s mismanagement of the club.
So are there not significant agent fees, signing-on fees plus significant Premier League level wages when you sign a player for a transfer fee?
@Richard. I guess we only really save on a transfer fee, as he is out of contract. As Martin Treasure said, in the very previous article, he was worth £20mill a year ago.
Exactly what it says on the article
A month ago we were told potter didn’t want him, he prefered other options so who is behind this then Sean? If we are back to the football genius making signings then potter might just as well give up as we have yet another player who will offer no sell on value and is straight out of the owners playbook.
I agree Dean…same old story !! Potter was right when he said the window would be exciting !! 🤣🤣
You’ve just got to laugh.
Whatever or whoever decided he was a good signing i don’t really care i think that is a great signing for a club who have limited funds.
Great point Dean – it does appear as though we’re on that treadmill leading us back to the beginning, although Diouf’s signing also shows the investment side in a player. Guessing there’s got to be grey area’s in here because whether we agree or not, Coufal and Cresswell are no longer with us, having depth in certain poisitions given Afcon for example is a good thing for us. Hearing we could be in for the Morton’s and Elliott’s in the world also gives some how – lol, like last season until it fades and die’s !! COYI’s
