Exclusive: Hammers Source Rejects Steiten Rumours

West Ham have this morning rubbished claims that director of football Tim Steidten warned against the hiring of the club’s head coach, Julen Lopetegui. Claret & Hugh spoke to a top source at the club who revealed that the appointment of the Spanish coach was “unanimous.”

Reports yesterday suggested that Steidten did not want his name associated with the recruitment of Lopetegui, who has struggled in his first few games at West Ham. Responsibility for the decision to bring in the former Real Madrid coach was laid firmly at the feet of Hammers chairman David Sullivan.

However, the club has come out fighting to dismiss these claims. A top club insider told C&H this morning: “100% he (Steidten) was at the interviews of the prospective manager, and the decision to appoint JL was unanimous.”

This story appears set to continue. For years, West Ham have been plagued with rumours and speculation about who signed which player. The best thing for West Ham now is to win some football matches and alleviate some of the pressure on Lopetegui, who is surely feeling the weight of last season’s events as well as his own poor form.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Look, we all know the problem is Sullivan! Join the dots and follow the money! When it’s January and we are competing and pushing hard for euro places and no reinforcements causes us to spectacularly plummet down the league, it’s Sullivan! When it’s an extra 4 million needed for Duran it’s Sullivan saying no. How long do I believe Steidten and Lopetegui will be at the club. None of them will be here by next Summer, sadly if only the present owners were gone too!

You obviously believe far too much of what you read here. Hence why they keep posting such rubbish 👍

I think that “BarmyArmy” has made some relevant points, too. These are worrying times, but hopefully, this is just a temporary dip & one good performance will have us all upbeat, again.

What an absolute load of hypocritical twaddle! “This story appears set to continue. For years, West Ham have been plagued with rumours and speculation about who signed which player.” – Really? Well you are some what correct in what you say, but most of that rumour and speculation was, and still is being created by you divisive clickbait merchants at C&H!
“The best thing for West Ham now is to win some football matches and alleviate some of the pressure on Lopetegui, who is surely feeling the weight of last season’s events as well as his own poor form.” – And your scandalous attempts at trying to undermine him! You lot just get worse and worse, and then you write articles wondering why things aren’t going well, maybe take a look at yourselves and point the finger a bit closer to home!. This place has become an absolute joke!

In a previous post (after the Chelsea performance), I gave my opinion that something is wrong within the club. That sort of disjointed, inadequate & bemusing effort (against Chelsea) does not happen by accident. It would seem to me that the ownership, the management & the players do not really seem to know what they should be doing; & that gets obvious exposure on the pitch. My opinion is, simply that. I have no knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes – & I hope that it isn’t true. But, this sort of rumour only worsens the suspicion that we are in a bad place. I hope that it is not true , & that I am wrong – which I very well might be.

So much twaddle is spouted that I believe very little of it until 100% proven. I never believed this when I read it yesterday and I also don’t believe the Todibo not being tough enough stuff either.
