Exclusive: Hammers Source Reveals Wonderkid Price

Reports that West Ham could accept a €15m (£12.5m) offer from Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme are NOT true says a senior club source this morning speaking to Claret and Hugh in response to the news as we revealed earlier.

During conversations with out top man at The London Stadium, C&H were told precisely how much the club have spent on the summer signing from Palmeiras.

The source informed us: “We haven’t had a bid but it (€15m) would not be acceptable anyway, we paid €23m”.

Guilherme has cost West Ham €23m (£19.5m) so far as no add-ons have been activated and the club are  determined to recover that money at minimum if he were to be sold.

If anyone does want to sign the speedy winger they’ll have to get a move on with the transfer window set to close on Monday.

Whether West Ham will get the full amount back for Guilherme is unlikely. But considering he remained on the side-lines even with the squad decimated by injury, a compromise could yet happen.

Give this kid time, it’s what we used to do, send him out on loan to the championship, he’s 18 for goodness sake, wasn’t his fault we paid big for him, any worse than ings? I doubt it.

Please stop referring to Guilherme as the ‘Wonderkid’. He’s shown nothing during his time with us, and certainly nothing during his fledgling career in Brazil, to earn that title.

He’s a young kid who bears no fault for the large transfer fee he arrived with.

If he has shown something in training with the first team then keep him and loan him out to gain experience and improve. If not, try to mitigate our loss by trying to get the best price for him.

Poor assumption of somebody who has not been given a chance.
Maybe he should go out on loan to a club that will play him.
His possible pedigree, being from an excellent academy of Brazilian players, makes his present worth at £20m.
Also need sell on clause added who knows 2 years time could be worth £50m.
Anything less is taking the preverbal.

Something else is going on, I think it has nothing to do with the future prospect he is just stuck in the middle.

  • Hammer says:

How can you be so wrong about a player without giving him a chance in the first team. There must be something else going on ? to just judge him in training is very odd. He looked ok for the few minutes he has had in the first team. Suppose one day we will get the full story ??

  • Mark D says:

If he was setting the world alight in training he would be in simple as that

  • John Ayris says:

So far as I can see he was bought as an 18 year old prospect five minutes ago and he’s still an 18 year old prospect…

  • mark wiggins says:

He hasn’t really had any opportunity to show us what he can do !
