Whilst a heavy bucket of cold water may have been poured on the prospect of West Ham signing Jack Grealish, the same can’t be said for Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott.

Yesterday, club sources were quick to dismiss any chances of signing the Manchester City man—but notably refused to comment on links to Elliott.

However, during a conversation with a trusted transfer insider, Claret & Hugh has learnt that 22-year-old Elliott has already been speaking to potential clubs via his agents.

The source—who has been involved in multiple Premier League transfers—informed us late last night: “Liverpool have said he can leave. His agents have already been talking to clubs, but there are fewer than you’d think.”

West Ham’s interest in the England U21 star has been confirmed, although there is believed to be serious competition for the player’s services.

Interestingly, Elliott is represented by the same ROOF agency who negotiated Mohammed Kudus’ transfer from The London Stadium to Tottenham earlier this summer.

This deal still feels like something of a long shot—and even if West Ham were to agree personal terms with the former Fulham trainee, agreeing a deal with Liverpool could prove more complex.

But crucially, West Ham remain in the running—alongside Newcastle, who are also reported to be keen.

One can only hope the club are not overly wasting time on a wild goose chase and passing on the opportunity to sign more serious targets like Southampton’s  Mateus Fernandes.

There is no way Sullivan will stump up the money for this signing 😏 Anyone thinking this, is living in cloud cuckoo land.

It’s got all the hallmarks of a “we tried” blah blah blah transfer saga.
Stop wasting time & go after realistic targets who might be interested

I think we can safely add this to Sullivan’s “well we did try” list.

I’ve got that same feeling as when I watched The Matrix for the first time, and those imortal words were uttered: “He’s starting to believe”.

Though the same thing happened about this time last year, and to be fair, after we became European champions too.

However, it is based upon these feelings, and a gut instinct (same as this time last year), that this season is going to be our season.

I mean, it’s how I justify paying the TV subscription, but it’s a fully legitimate, peer reviewed, scientific method.
