West Ham Transfer Update – Exclusive

Like many others, I’ve been mortified to see the name of Josh Brownhill creeping back into the mix of potential West Ham midfielders in recent days. Nothing personal against the player—he’s okay. But that’s exactly the issue. West Ham need much more than okay.

Graham Potter needs someone who can walk straight into midfield and claim a starting spot. Brownhill just doesn’t do that.

Now, I’ll admit to having some part in fuelling the speculation. It was me who revealed on Claret & Hugh back in June that the 29-year-old former Burnley man had bought a house in Brentwood—information I had on good authority.

Shortly after that story broke, a football agent (not an estate agent!) with years of experience in the game informed me that West Ham had no interest in Brownhill. And that, I thought, was the end of it.

The Hammers already have an abundance of midfielders. Players like Guido Rodríguez, Andy Irving, James Ward-Prowse and Tomáš Souček aren’t guaranteed starters next season—and some are, officially or unofficially, on the for-sale list.

What West Ham need is a midfielder who is clearly a cut above—someone who can elevate the team, not just pad out the squad. And Brownhill simply isn’t that.

West Ham bound Brownhill? I’m not so sure

Insider gives Brownhill update

The club are saying nothing publicly or privately about transfer targets, and quite rightly. We can only hope deals are being worked on quietly behind the scenes. But the hope remains that we’ll sign someone who’s more than just “half decent.”

For a bit of clarity, I spoke to an agent this morning who has worked on West Ham deals in the past. His response to the Brownhill rumour? “Brownhill? No, I don’t think so.”

Not much meat on the bone—but I took some comfort from it. Still, as long as Brownhill remains a free agent and owns a house in Essex, I fear the rumours will persist.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

A lot of players invest in property with an eye on funding their lives after football, they don’t often live in them all, but you never know…

This is the same old transfer window we’ve been used to for years Sullivan spends 3/4 of shopping in Harrods for players then with a week to go will dive into Poundland hoping this will keep us long suffering supporters happy, if he thinks that he is dillusional

Another case of Sullivan making life difficult for potter and co the way things are going in the transfer market and the fact we are signing players like Wilson just shows how much Sullivan has no interest in spending money on decent players ones that could take the club to the next level don’t be surprised if potter and co pack their bags and walk out you simply can’t manage a football club with one hand tied behind his back when potter signed he was promised he would have the clubs full backing in the transfer market that was clearly a LIE but that is typical of Sullivan if he and his cronies continue to own the club then it’s a one way ticket to disaster

Spot on we could getk elliot but sullivan is definitely not going to apend that kind of. MOney he will go after free transfers, cheap transfers or the dad’s army brigade, he definitely doesn’t have any ambition at all as all west ham fans, supporters know from previous experience of and let’s face it some ridiculous names that have been said to be targets, grealish, just 1 of many this window and it’s, always the same old nonsense every window mostly put out by his propaganda machine. But on a brighter note wasn’t it great to see bayern spank the spuds and Harry Jane even done them a favour by deliberately missing a penalty, and even better kudus the judas didn’t show up at all.

As soon as we told the world we had no money..Then that was it as far as decent transfers coming in .
The only reason the old brigade went on the market was because they were at the end of their contracts…Not because they were old…This is going to be Potters downfall as he fails to see past Sullivan and his cronies…I hate to say this but without the invention of the Conference league we would have relegated by now…Moyes got lucky…..Yes we enjoyed our day in the sun..However it was the right competition at the right time…Not that im taking anything away from winning the cup!…
Now the chickens have come home to roost…Different manager..Same message from the owner…Stay in the PL or your sacked…Anything above that is a bonus…Ambition is a dirty word to Sullivan…He has done his profit projection probably for the next five years.
There is so much money coming in to the PL that he hasnt really got to get to any next level…Despite what we are being told.

    Would rather not have Brownhill
I see that Man City looking for a deal regarding Paqueta and Grealish incorporated into the deal
    Would rather have Mcatee

  • James smith says:

Sean whetstone who has close ties with Sullivan and writes for the site a few days ago said Brownhill is the most likely signing so hard not to see it happening. He is feee which is the main motivator in West Ham’s pursuit of players
