Following the departure of David Sullivan West Ham have taken the extraordinary step of assuring their scouting and data analysis departments that there will be no mass redundancies following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Whilst it is true that head data analyst Maximilian Hahn resigned from his position earlier this month, the remainder of the recruitment and analysis staff have now been reassured about their futures at the football club.
Claret & Hugh spoke exclusively to a member of the training staff who revealed that interim chief executive Karim Virani personally met with staff to address concerns during what has been a period of huge upheaval following relegation and the scandal surrounding former chairman David Sullivan.
Staff Given Reassurances
Speaking to us earlier today, the source, who preferred to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said:
“Everybody was nervous after relegation. Some new people had been hired and headhunted midway through last season, and a lot of people were worried that they would lose their jobs.
“We were obviously really pleased when we were told that everybody was staying.
“We were reassured that our department would be keeping our jobs and that the club was going to be ambitious.
“It was a big relief.”
The update will come as welcome news to many behind the scenes who had feared the financial implications of relegation could result in significant cuts across the football operation.
Restructuring Already Underway
There is also much more to come on this story as West Ham have already begun restructuring behind the scenes following Sullivan’s departure from his executive role at the club.
We were also informed that whilst Sullivan rarely attended the London Stadium offices in person, preferring instead to work from his Essex home, his office and desk space at the stadium have now been cleared out.
Taken together, the developments point towards significant changes behind the scenes as West Ham begin the process of rebuilding both on and off the pitch.
Actions will speak louder than words with this.
It’s not only scouting it is the whole infrastructure of how the club is run that needs a more progressive approach, we are light years behind teams like Brentford or Brighton, as for training facilities we should be looking at Chelsea as a guide and for Stadium though it pains me to say it Tottenham or n other sports The Dallas Cowboys we have the fanbase we need our owner(s) to step up.
