Having earlier published an article regarding six players that will likely depart West Ham in the summer, Claret & Hugh has been exclusively informed today by a source close to the club that one player is “99.9%” leaving, seemingly regardless of which division the Hammers find themselves in.

The player in question is Callum Wilson and this revelation marks the clearest indication yet that the veteran striker’s time in east London is coming to an end.

Wilson’s Contract Situation: Silence Speaks Volumes

Wilson’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and despite rumours earlier in the year that he had been offered fresh terms, no official announcement has ever followed. Inside the club, opinions have been split for months: Nuno Espírito Santo has not viewed Wilson as part of his long‑term project, while a senior board member has pushed for him to stay.

Earlier in the year, there were reports that the club were close to an agreement to terminate the players contract. At the time Nuno said “Callum is a very experienced man, he’s been in the game for so much time, he knows that his position has changed.”

Wilson remained and has largely played a peripheral role as a super-sub, indeed over the course of the season he has three conversions from the bench, bringing his overall tally to six goals.

However the latest information suggests the debate is now over.

The club appears ready to move on.

Wilson arrived with pedigree, experience, and a proven Premier League scoring record. But inconsistent minutes, despite remaining injury free, and West Ham’s shifting tactical direction have left him on the fringes.

With the Hammers preparing for a major summer rebuild one that could be shaped by relegation or survival the club is prioritising, younger forwards and lower ‑wage, higher‑availability options.

Wilson’s current deal is a low base, yet in addition has 90% performance related clauses.

Even if West Ham stay in the Premier League, the message from inside the club is clear, Wilson will not be part of the next chapter.

Unsurprisingly, several clubs are monitoring the situation. Wilson remains a respected goalscorer with a reputation for delivering in big moments. Whether he chooses a final Premier League challenge or a move abroad will depend on the offers that land on the table.

Wilson’s departure will leave West Ham needing at least one, and possibly two, new centre‑forwards this summer, with Taty Castelanos also likely to leave should the club be relegated. Wilson’s exit also signals a broader shift in recruitment strategy as the club prepares for a major reset.

One thing is certain: Callum Wilson’s West Ham story is almost over.
