A top West Ham club source has revealed to Claret & Hugh today that the club will look to offload multiple players ahead of a summer overhaul.
We approached a London Stadium insider this morning to ask why the club didnât press ahead with attempts to recruit a pacey midfielder in January.
In the build-up to the recent transfer window, we had been repeatedly informed that a fast midfielder, as well as a striker, were recruitment priorities. However, the deadline came and went without the Hammers adding a central player with more mobilityâand judging by yesterdayâs performance against Brentford, it would appear we need it more than ever.
âIt will need to be sorted in the summer, but we need to move players out first due to the wage bill,â was the response from the club when we asked if West Ham were still in the market for an athletic presence in the middle of the park.
Certainly, judging by Graham Potterâs previous teams, mobility was a key part of his game plan and recruitment, so itâs safe to assume yesterdayâs pedestrian first-half display wouldnât have gone unnoticed.
As for who is on the chopping block? The club would not elaborate, but more performances like yesterday should provide numerous candidates
Keep Bowen and all promising youngsters . Any or all of the rest can and should go . Concentrate on the few with value to provide funds .. Kudus for ÂŁ85m … yesyesyesyesyes
Kilmann who is shocking for as much as possible ÂŁ20m if lucky .We might scrape ÂŁ15/20 for a couple of others . Paqueta must go but what is his value ?
Thank you Moyes for running an ageing squad into the ground .. Thank you Loppy for continuing the trend of awful recruitment but most of all thank you Sullivan for proving that selling filth does’nt need buisiness aqumen or charisma and does not equip you to run our beautiful club .
Antonio, Ings, Coufal out of contract, Fabianski, Cresswell old age retirement. Souchek not up to it, too slow.
Graham Potter is going to be the most successful manager in our history, he is the man to lead us into a new era. COYI
Ings.. coufel ..Antonio… out of contract huge savings on wage bill good start..
Load of rubbish, forrest would have still been paying jwp wages, we could have used those towards a quick midfield instead we pay to bring one of the slowest midfielders in the prem back, shocking.
The journey will be one step at a time. We will get there. Believe.
need to move players out first, what a pathetic article. We have multiple players out of contract and will be sending solar back so will have more than enough wiggle room wage wise
Same words as last year, so no need for the same results.
We just need to concentrate on avoiding relegation this season and the players who help us to do that should be the ones retained
Westham being able to sell unwanted players for real money will prove difficult , The hundreds of millions spent will only yield chump change . Westham only have 3 or 4 quality players which means another 8-10 signings are needed and hopefully some academy players can come through and step up to the first team . The failure to sign quality players rather than old crocks by Moyes as well as Loopy and Steidten still haunts Westham .
Scarles has shown he’s ready Potts has been outstanding for a struggling Portsmouth team ings coufal even Antonio cresswell all on big wages but all out of contract so that’s a saving on wages earthy to come back all having league experience maybe potters seen what a promising bunch of youth we have
