Exclusive – West Ham Transfer Business Might Not be Over Yet

Despite the transfer window closing at 7pm on Monday night there remains a slim possibility that Graham Potter’s West Ham squad could still be thinned.

There remains a “very, very, very small chance” that Guido Rodríguez could still depart West Ham for the Saudi Pro League as their window doesn’t close until 23 September, but he has already turned it down once.

Another option is Mexico, as their window doesn’t close until 12 September, as he previously played in Mexico for Club Tijuana and Club America.

Going going gone Rodriguez and Alvarez

Rodríguez had looked odds-on to go to Spain during the transfer window, with both Espanyol and Real Betis making bids, but his agent ultimately rejected both offers.

He is claimed to earn over £75,000 per week at West Ham, and that is one of the challenges in finding clubs outside the Premier League that are willing to pay that amount without subsidy.

The agent has specific personal terms for his client and agent fee demands, which must be met for Rodríguez to depart.

Signed on a free transfer in August 2024, he has ten months remaining on his two-year contract worth around £3.15m

I hope we can move him on we have academy players that can fill his role if needed

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Can’t see the value in letting him go without a transfer fee, he is a good player and with more legs around him could yet prove useful this season, he is better at tackling and passing than JWP so for the sake of his wages without a transfer fee would say keep him for squad depth.

  • Bennyboy baker says:

What ever it takes to get rid of him would be a step in the right direction. He has become a liability and is no where good enough to play in the premier league last thing we need is another ings. If we have to pay him to leave then so be it we will save money in the long term but he should never be allowed to play for us again he is well past his use by date

  • James smith says:

I think he has two years remaining. Everywhere seems to say we signed him on a full three year contract so he will be with us for a while. Has the club confirmed his contract is up in the summer? Says it ends 2027.

  • Hammerdan says:

Sounds like he needs a new agent!!!

  • Irish Hammer ⚒️ says:

Pay him off, lost far more than that on Emerson who was a far better player and only left and cost us due to mismanagement of the team and club.
