West Ham United have confirmed the deal is done and West Ham’s second signing of the summer is complete: Kyle Walker Peters is a Hammer. A ‘Bosman deal’ free signing for West Ham after having completed his Southampton contract, the versatile defender has been confirmed today as a Hammer and will wear the club’s number 2.

Whether playing on the left side, or right, ‘KWP’ is an experienced Premier League-calibre defender and gives Graham Potter options and cover in defence.

Walker – Peters himself alluded to the length of time he’s been on West Ham’s radar in his first whufc.com interview:

“I’m very excited. I feel like it’s been a long time coming. It’s been a few years where I’ve been linked to the Club and then spoken to the Club, so yeah, I’m excited to be here now.”

What you might not know is that this deal is indeed a pretty shrewd move by West Ham.  Claret and Hugh, speaking to our top transfer source outside, but close to West Ham this morning, found that Walker Peters has taken a significant pay cut from the deal offered by Turkish side Besiktas in what, we were informed, “looks like a great deal for the club“.

Good bit of business, then, as well as a strengthening of the West Ham squad. Looking like our first view of ‘KWP’ will be along with AWB, JCT, MK (wonder if Kilman has a middle name?) and EHMD when the Hammers tale on Manchester United next weekend in the Premier League Summer series. Oh – and his best mate at West Ham? Of course. JWP.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Only joking. A great addition to the club. The passion from our supporters, despite years of failure, is overwhelming. Just finished my shift and can see the old ground, or what’s left of it. Up the hammers.

Bosman deal. What we left Europe with Brexit, such rulings should be declared null and void. We owe the saints 25 million.
Alternatively buying and selling players is morally wrong. Legally a player should only have to give 4 weeks notice. Over to you Angela Raynor, workers rights to footballers.

So if JWP’s sister had a baby with KWP would it be known as, (insert baby name here), Walker-Peters-Ward-Prowse?

  • The Demon says:

Max Kilman’s middle name (but not double barrelled) is another ‘W’ – William.

    So MWK.
