It’s all eyes on Germany and the Bundesliga where the game is expected to resume on May 9.
But a whole list of new rules and regulations have been put in place ahead of the kick off and British authorities and fans will be watching to see if it all works.
Should it do so then hopes will soar that the UK Government will give a green light for the game’s resumption here.
According to the Mail a document released by the German FA and the DFL has mapped out how the game can return safely amid the current crisiss, how players will train and play matches as well as what happens if someone contracts Covid-19 before the season is finished.
It reveals that players can live either in team hotels or at home but sex and kissing is banned if they or their partners show symptoms of the virus. Stadiums will allow a maximum of 300 people at one time, including only four policemen, 10 journalists, four ball boys, eight groundsmen and 50 security staff.
There will be many who believe this is all too fraught with problems for it to work but it gives hope that one way or another the season may be able to come to a conclusion here.
One thing is for sure – it may be football but not as you and I know it.l
