One thing is for certain — if former West Ham boss Graham Potter really does fancy the newly available Sweden job, it won’t be for the money.
It was revealed today that Potter — who began his managerial career at Östersund — owns a second home in Sweden worth £1.5 million. That sort of money buys a lot of property in Scandinavia, but it’s a drop in the ocean for Potter, who is reported to have amassed a fortune of nearly £50 million during his time in football.
Footballing Reasons, Not Finances
Potter has not yet agreed his severance package with West Ham, but is believed to have walked away from Chelsea with a net payoff of around £40 million. Nice work if you can get it — and a tidy sum that allows Potter the luxury of making his next move based purely on footballing reasons.
Speaking to Swedish TV at the weekend, Potter said:
“I’m staying in Sweden right now, in my house in Sweden. I’m between jobs and just left the Premier League.
I’m open to anything, really, where I feel I can help. The job as head coach of the Swedish national team is fantastic.
I have feelings for Sweden. I love the country and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football.
So yes, it would be a fantastic opportunity for me, obviously.”
A come-and-get-me plea if ever there was one — and it would appear the only decision left is whether the Swedish FA choose to offer him the job.

So Potter has the last laugh. Loadsamoney.
I’m guessing the west Ham severance package will be closer to 40K?
A national team job really !
I think that if you look at Potter’s goals per game ratio (rather than his % possession) you will see why we should never have appointed him and why Sweden are unlikely to appoint him
I did notice a lot is being made of the Swedish £190m strike force but I can’t see Potter playing with two strikers.
