FA Cup day and Moyes hints at stronger team

David Moyes seems more likely to name a stronger team for today’s third round FA Cup clash against Leeds today than he did in the Carabao Cup matches.

He have a slight clue to his thinking when declaring that Lukasz Fabianski could play in goal and that this was after all the FA Cup.

Probably more important is the fact that we are not facing a series of midweek Europa League matches over the next few weeks as was the case when we were competing for the Carabao Cup.

Were we not playing Norwich City in a rearranged game this week then we might see an even stronger team today but we are far better placed than Leeds who have a minimum of eight regulars missing and maybe up to eight.

One player I do expect to get a game is Ryan Fredericks who is over a long term injury issue and looking set for the right back role.

We go into the game on the back of wins at Watford and Palace whilst the Whites  ended a run of three Premier League defeats with a 3-1 home win over Burnley at Elland Road last Sunday.

This weekend’s winners will go through to the fourth round, the draw for which will be made at 4.50pm on Sunday 9 January and will be broadcast live by ITV1 and on the ITV Hub.

Possible team: Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Alese, Masuaku; Noble, Soucek; Lanzini, Fornals, Vlasic, Bowen.

My prediction 3-1

  1. Sounds reasonable, BUT PLEASE NOT MASUAKU. The entire system and balance of the team disintegrates when he plays. This would be SO unfair to Alese.

  2. Masuaku on the bench . Johnson RB would be safer. We have enough forward players.
