FA plan could devalue West Ham players

The FA’s plan to cap foreign players at twelve could cost West Ham in the valuation of foreign players they may be forced to offload. The Hammers are concerned that many of their 17 non-home grown players will massively lose value overnight if the plan is implemented.

West Ham could be forced to offload five foreign players as part of the FA plan but a rush by all Premier League clubs to do so at the same time could crash the foreign player market while the value of homegrown players would massively increase overnight.

A senior source told Claret and Hugh by Email: “The FA plan to cap foreign players at 12 is worrying to us as our foreign players would massively lose value overnight and we won’t be able to offload five, we have 17″

The idea is contained in an FA position paper that has been circulated around the game’s main stakeholders and will be discussed again at a meeting of Premier League club chairmen today. The FA plan is in response to the effects of BREXIT.

  1. Yet more project fear. The sensible and logical course of action if such a rule is to be introduced is to phase it in over several years or give several years notice of the changes.
It’s not rocket science and you don’t have to be too bright to work out a sensible implementation plan.

  2. The sad fact is that there are far too many foreign players in our leagues . It’s something all fans across the board are aware of . The truth is it needs sorting out eventually . It has created a silly wage situation and transfer fees of disproportionate values . And the case for the England camp is clear . Less quality players to choose from . It’s an old story now and the FA are right to address it . But the problem can’t be solved overnight as it would be very damaging to our countries Leagues and future .
I must therefore agree completely with the comment made by “ Innocuous Sparrow “ .
It Is something that must be done in stages over a period of years . All League clubs in the Country must sit down with the FA and find an agreeable route to lessen the amount of foreign players . I think most of us would agree there are far too many .

    • I would like to agree with you Kevin but the evidence suggest that foreign players are for the most part better than British ones, primarilly due to superior coaching, that creates technical players that are able to think for themselves on the pitch and aren’t frightened to take risks with the ball at their feet, when I hear some of our supporters criticise Anderson for trying and failing with an imaginitive pass it shows how indoctrinated it is in our culture that we must not make mistakes, psychological studies have proven not trying to make mistakes increases them, players should be allowed to play with freedom like Man City, how many mistakes does Guardiola let his players make ? We have a coaching system that is improving but is still years behind the continent, until we look at things from a polar opposite approach we will struggle, Pellegrini is trying to instill that in the players but it will take time all we can do as supporters is support our players not get on their backs every time they make a mistake.
