‘Fab’ insists Irons must be honest with themselves

Lukasz Fabianski makes no bones about the need for improvement within the team insisting every member of the squad is aware of some shortcomings.

The former Arsenal and Swansea stopper has been the huge success of the season, making more saves than any other top level keeper.

And he’s determined to show that the team is very much on the right lines as the season draws towards it’s conclusion.

LIke the rest of us he believes there has been an improvement in the team but it’s all about reaching a consisdtent level.

And tomorrow’s (Sat) clash against Leicester City gives the team a real chance of demonstrating that it can bering the same form as it showed at Old Trafford to the table.

Like the team he judges his own form on a game by game basis but declares himself happy with his display generally and there’s mot many of us who would disagree with that.

Speaking to the official site he said: “I’m happy with how the things are going with the transition from different clubs, moving into a new environment basically. It’s been good for me but I’d like to finish in a strong way that’s for sure.

“We want to continue to play like that in the next games. We want to show that we are a team that is still progressing and hopefully we’ll be able to do it.

“We lost three games in a row which is not nice, and now we have a home game which is going to be special. Hopefully for us we’ll perform in the way we did at Manchester United. Hopefully we’ll get the result.”

“There are always some little spells during the seasons, and I think it’s happened this season as well, that we’re not happy with, like the start of the season and the little spell we’re having now. We have to be honest with ourselves. There’s still room to improve.

“I look at my season in a way that I just kind of judge it game-by-game. Obviously there are some games which were pretty good for me, there are some games where you always look at it and you think I could’ve or should’ve done better in this situation.

“Then there are some games where you can basically do nothing about it so it goes like that for me. Maybe once the season is done I can have a bigger picture in my head with how it all went. Just judging game by game, I think it’s all about consistency in my position as well.”

  1. Fabianski sure surprised me, what a buy he has been in terms of value for money between him and Balbuena we probably have the two signings of the season. Agree with him that we need to put more in, in short we need to improve without the ball to stop giving so many chances away, Tottenham, City and Liverpool have shown the system, win it back as early as possible, as high up the field as you can and press in numbers, we also need to have more men in the centre of the box when we attack often that space between the goalposts is completely vacant so we have harder chances than we need.

  2. Fab has been great most saves in PL 2nd in high grabs & is well rounded GK. Him & Declan I don’t sorry about.
Shame he only has 5 clean sheets we need defence & mid sorted to test him left. But he has been great & with Adrian I’d be ok with Trott or Asang being #2 tho rather see a solid loan for them. Think a loan #2 would be fine bc we have more important positions. Otherwise I’d grab Pope up on a second for £10m he is much better then Pickford or young Dean Henderson.
