Fab tells squad to keep believing

Lukasz Fabianski believes the Irons have shown they can stick it to the top teams following yesterday’s victory over Man U.

He told https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/september/22-september/lukasz-fabianski-performance-shows-were-playing-more-now  “It was a massive win for us. Our ambition is to get in and around the big teams.

“We are very ambitious as a team and want to play for something more than just being a mid-table team, and step-by-step you can clearly see that emerging in our performances.

“Hopefully that win will just keep up our belief that we are able to do it, that we are able to join those bigger teams in the table if we just continue to work hard.”

The team kept the Man United shots on target to just three throughout the entire match.

“We felt pretty confident going in at half-time because not only had we scored a goal, but I don’t think Manchester United created any chances in the first half against us,” Fabianski explained.

“That’s always something positive to take from the first 45 minutes of a match; it always gives you belief going into the second half. We were confident at half-time that we were playing well, we were controlling the game, and just wanted to push on even more.”

Nothing like this has happened for the Hammers since February 2014, Fabianski reckons his defensive solidarity is a product of all the hard work on the training ground.

He said: “In every game it’s very important to keep a clean sheet as long as possible, because it always gives you a chance to get something out of it.

“When you look at the Manchester United guys they have such good quality going forward. They have some skillful players, so you always have to be aware because they can surprise you – we had to be prepared for that.

“I’m happy with the clean sheet, and hopefully the defensive work that we do every day will just continue to pay off – or maybe get even better perhaps!”

ClaretandHugh says: At £7 million what a buy this fella has turned out to be. Hammer of the Year in his first season and having to make more stops than any other PL keeper the Pole is a bargain buy who never fails to impress. Even during an afternoon of relative comfort, he was called on to make a crucial point blank save from Harry Maguire which even by his impressive standards was pretty special and could even have been one of the game’s most critical moments. Fab is a very straightforward and honest bloke so his comments can be taken very seriously. He’s a seasoned pro and if he believes this club is on its way to something big, then you can bet your bottom dollar that is probably the case. His point about United’s forward movement is well made and should be remembered despite all the claims that they are currently a very poor side.
