Lukasz Fabianski has pulled the curtain down on his international career.
After agreeing just a further year with the Hammers, the Polish international is clearly eyeing the end of his time in the game when making the announcement.
It came through PZPN Nas Football Channel with the keeper ready to wave farewell to the fans at the Warsaw Stadium after an initial announcement issued by the Polish Football Association.”.
The move comes as no surprise with Fab – who has been a truly outstanding signing for the Hammers from Swansea at £7 million – suffering a number of small injuries in the last couple of seasons.
And it was provably that which convinced the Irons to move in on Alphone Areola who is on a season-long long with an option to buy.
A full international for Poland since 2006, Fabiański has represented his country on over 50 occasions. He was included in the squads for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2008, Euro 2016 and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
In announcing his retirement from the international game he said: “Playing in the Poland national side has always been the greatest honour for me, a reason to be proud and a dream come true. Therefore this moment is not easy.
“However, i have thought about it for a long time and decided to end my representative career.”
