Fabric Olympic Stadium wrap goes up

wrap11The first of sixty eight 12m high fabric panels was installed at the former Olympic Stadium today. These will soon be joined by the new West Ham United illuminated marquee sign which arrived at the London stadium last week.

The claret and blue themed fabric panels on the new alternative wrap will contain five West Ham United crests measuring 6.8m high and 7.5m wide, as well as other signage and branding for West Ham and the Stadium Sponsor. These will be uplit during specified hours of darkness.

Stadium part owners, London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) spent £5m to fund the Stadium wrap as it wasn’t included in the original £272m stadium transformation budget. The fabric alternative wrap replaced the original digital wrap design which did not work well in daylight.

The new high-definition (HD) 83m screen due to be installed on the wrap will be delayed until October although temporary smaller screens may be used to fill the gap for the kick off of the Premier League.
